Ruth Langsford has shared her future plans while addressing her split from ex-husband Eamonn Holmes.
The couple had been married for 14 years before their unexpected split in May 2024 and share one son, Jack. Now, in a candid interview with Woman and Home, the Loose Women star, 64, reveals that her main hope moving forward is “happiness” for Jack.
She confessed: “When you have children, you look at them starting out in life and just want everything to be good for them, for them to be happy and to not have their hearts broken.
“You can't guarantee any of that, but that's what I want most for Jack.”
Ruth shares her son Jack with Eamonn, and she is also a stepmother to his three children from his first marriage to ex-wife Gabrielle.
During the interview, Jack came up again when Ruth was asked about her greatest love. Reflecting, she shared: “My gorgeous son Jack, who is the most delightful, caring, and wonderful young man. After him, it’s got to be my Maggie, our rescue dog.
“I thought I never wanted a dog. I didn’t know I could love an animal as much as I love her, but I do.”
Ruth was also asked if she'd ever had a back-up plan, and said: "I don't have a plan B because I never had a plan A. Ever!" She also called her son Jack her greatest love, saying: ""[He] is the most delightful, caring and wonderful young man."
While Eamonn, 64, has recently moved on with his new, younger partner, 42-year-old Katie Alexander, Ruth is reportedly "dipping her toes" back into the dating pool.
Just last month, a source told Closer Magazine: "While Ruth's making the most of being single, she's also ready to dip her toe back into the dating pool - and after some friendly flirting, she's given pals the go-ahead to set her up on dates.
"She's really excited for that first date, and while she's understandably nervous, she can't wait for the tummy flutters of falling for someone again and experiencing all the 'firsts' with a new boyfriend."
It comes after Eamonn and Katie recently enjoyed a trip to Barcelona, where the GB News presenter was seen with his arms around her. They were later spotted arriving at his bachelor pad in Kingston.
Despite Eamonn insisting he wants to remain friends with Ruth after their split, the mum of one doesn’t feel the same.
She previously made her feelings about the situation very clear, saying: “Why would you need to stay friends, you aren't with them anymore, you don't need to be friends. My thing is you weren't just friends, you were married or had a relationship.”
