This week, Fern Britton finds herself in the spotlight following claims that she was reduced to tears during her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

The beloved 67-year-old television host has shared details of her stint on the BBC dance contest in her new book, 'The Older I Get'.

And after seeing Fern Britton, many fans remain astonished by her transformation after witnessing her astonishing five stone weight loss, which altered her dress size from a 22 to a svelte 12. Questions abound regarding how she achieved such impressive results.

Britton, famous for hosting This Morning, achieved her remarkable weight loss following the fitting of a gastric band in 2006. However, her Instagram followers still can't help but express their amazement at her changed appearance these days.

One admirer recently took to her social media to praise her, saying: "Fern, you are looking amazing, what's the secret? " Meanwhile, another commented: "Fern, you look fit, fresh and fabulous."

A third fan expressed admiration with "Wow you look fantastic Fern," and yet another remarked on her seemingly age-defying looks: "You seem to be looking younger than you did 20 years ago! Fabulous."

Though she's been relatively quiet about how she maintains her fitness in recent years, Fern regularly updates her followers about her active lifestyle, which includes cycling, practicing yoga, and enjoying lengthy strolls. .

Prior to her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother last year, the London-born presenter completed the Couch to 5k challenge, extolling its benefits to her followers as "a fantastic thing to do". After this, Fern committed to running three times weekly, each session lasting roughly 45 minutes. Since recovering from a shoulder injury, Fern is also eager to resume weight training as part of her health regimen.

Fern underwent gastric band surgery back in 2006 but kept it a secret until two years later. Speaking to the Daily Mail about her decision at the time, she revealed: "My cholesterol was high. My knee joints were starting to hurt. I wasn't able to run. I was approaching 50 and I thought, 'Do you know what? I'm going to be different when I'm 50'. I was cycling like mad and nothing was happening."

She explained that her GP saw her as "a good candidate for a band", which led her to proceed with the operation.

She's hit headlines this week regarding her time with partner Artem Chigvintsev on Strictly Come Dancing

Fern added: "I needed to get healthy. I wasn't unhappy the way I was; I was unhealthy. I'd been recovering from having children, having a divorce, all those emotional things."

In a recent interview with Woman and Home Magazine, Fern discussed how her gastric band still impacts her life, stating: "Although my gastric band is an old one, it still has its powers. Good food finds it hard to get through, but you can still eat chocolate and drink wine."

The revelations come as Fern hit headlines this week with her candid reflections about her time on Strictly Come Dancing in her new book. She was on the BBC show back in 2012 with partner Artem Chigvintsev.

The book, serialised on Mail Online, includes her struggles to 'gather up her self-confidence' while on the show.
