Selena Gomez speechless over bizarre engagement gift from Jimmy Kimmel

Selena Gomez was given an engagement present on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week after attending the Golden Globe Awards with fiancé Benny Blanco after his proposal last year

Selena Gomez was left speechless after receiving a bizarre engagement present from Jimmy Kimmel this week.

Selena, 32, announced that she had got engaged to record producer Benny Blanco, 36, last month. She then further showcased the diamond ring whilst at the Golden Globe Awards in the US on Sunday night alongside her fiancé. Following her latest film, Emilia Pérez (2024), picking up four awards at this year's ceremony, Selena appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday. During the interview, host Jimmy, 57, presented his guest with a belated engagement present.

Jimmy said: "I won't ask you when you're getting married. Maybe you don't even know when you're getting married, but I do have an engagement gift for you and Benny." Selena expressed surprise over the present, responding: "What?" The host then said ahead of revealing it: "This is something that ... it's not a traditional [gift] and it's not necessarily a practical gift, but I think you and Benny are really gonna enjoy it." Selena said to the presenter: "Okay ... thank you!"

Jimmy went on to bring out a box for the vintage toy Daddy Saddle, which was a saddle that children could strap into on their father's back to imitate riding a horse. The talk show host told his guest Selena: "It's called the Daddy Saddle and you can ride around on Benny in a very wholesome way."

Selena appeared to laugh initially after the box was brought onto Jimmy's desk in the studio, but was speechless amid her apparent confusion over the gift. And she covered her mouth with one of her hands as Jimmy continued: "I don't want you to think that anything is being suggested here that isn't but ... just imagine yourself [on Benny's back]."

As Jimmy encouraged her to "imagine" the couple using the product, Selena, who appeared embarrassed, told him: "Okay, yeah." Jimmy then teased that Benny has "a lot more curly" hair than the parent model on the box, saying: "Just try to imagine this hair being a lot more curly and then you on top of him." Selena laughed before he added: "Anyway, that's for you." The singer replied: "Well, thank you."

After handing over the box, Jimmy pulled some wrapping paper from it, saying: "I gotta pull some of the Christmas wrapping paper off of that ... yeah, that may have been a regift." At one point after taking the gift, Selena looked towards the studio audience as she mouthed: "What?"
