Claudia Winkleman’s Strictly Come Dancing wardrobe is rapidly becoming our favourite source of partywear inspiration. The presenter has been wearing a whole host of different looks that manage to combine her cool, laid-back style with a more glamorous edge.
Her recent outfits are not only perfect for Strictly hosting, but also make the perfect Christmas party attire thanks to their subtle luxe-looking details and materials like velvet. Claudia’s most recent outfit hit was the Velvet Long Sleeve Detail Mini Dress from Karen Millen, which she wore during the Saturday 19 October show – and you can still get your hands on it for £99.

Although Claudia’s black version of the velvet mini dress is currently sold out in every size except XS, you can still get the burgundy colourway which is still available in all sizes from an XS to a large. Not only is burgundy the top trending colour of the season, but it’s perfect for adding a little pop to your festive outfit whilst still being elegant and understated enough to be worn long after Christmas is over.
Apart from the colour difference, the deep red version of Claudia’s dress is exactly the same design, with long sleeves and a high neckline which both offset the short hemline to create balanced look. It also has ruching details across the side and shoulders which help complement curves and create a flattering silhouette, whilst the soft stretchy velvet material hugs your figure to show it off.

Karen Millen)Statement padded shoulders also add to the hourglass silhouette that the dress creates, giving it a sophisticated and flattering look. The dress is such a timeless silhouette and style that it can be styled and accessorised in so many ways, making it a great versatile pick for the festive season.
You can wear it with tights and chunky black boots for a more grungy take on it, or add some metallic heels and some glittering jewellery for a more sophisticated party-ready look. The dress is also a great alternative to one of Claudia’s other Strictly outfits, Albaray’s Collar and Cuff Velvet Dress, £99, which has almost completely sold out now with only sizes 14 and 18 still available.
Elsewhere, we spotted this Black Velvet Tie Back Jolene Mini Dress for £79 from Nobody’s Child, which also comes in black and burgundy. It has a more relaxed A-line fit that’s ideal for those who would rather avoid a bodycon style, and it has a gorgeous open back that fastens with an oversized bow.
It might feel a little early to start planning your Christmas outfits, but the festive season will be here before you know it and we want to make sure we never have a “what should I wear?!” moment again!
