Simone Biles, one of the most decorated athletes in history, is stepping into an unexpected new role as a guest mentor on NBC's The Voice.
Biles becomes Snoop Dogg's secret weapon
Partnering with Snoop Dogg for the playoff rounds, the celebrated gymnast is bringing her championship mindset to the competition, but the announcement has left fans divided.
In a recent interview, Biles expressed her excitement about the opportunity.
"We were able to riff off each other and give the artists the best insight going into the next round," she said, reflecting on her dynamic with Snoop Dogg.
The Spring, Texas, native explained that her role is less about vocal coaching and more about helping contestants harness confidence and refine their stage presence.
"It was pretty easy, simple,"Biles shared of the collaboration.
"We're both very mellow. But if we need to bring that energy up, then we can. For us, it was about instilling confidence going into the next week."
She added that she approached the experience with focus and determination, saying, "These are the learning steps: Learn, process, go back in and work."
Snoop Dogg echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the pair's shared ability to relate to the challenges contestants face.
"We have such diverse careers. But the things that we dealt with, they're dealing with now," he said.
While the collaboration drew praise for its focus on performance and mental preparation, some fans were less convinced.
"I love her ... but I'm baffled?" one social media user commented after the announcement.
Others joked about the unconventional pairing, with one writing, "Snoop must have smoked one and forgot what show he on."
Still, many defended Biles' involvement.
"People not realizing that Simone can actually give great advice on performance, routine, stage presence and confidence," former contestant Noivas Wright explained.
Another user pointed out, "These people can already SING ... what they need is training on stage presence, confidence, and performance, which she's an expert in."
Fans can see how Simone Biles and Snoop Dogg's teamwork unfolds on Monday, Nov. 25, when the episode airs on NBC.
