Simone Biles became the center of online speculation following her appearance at the Country Music Awards on Wednesday night, though not for her red carpet fashion or presenting duties. Instead, a brief moment captured during the ceremony sparked social media chatter.
Biles attended the CMAs at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, where she turned heads in a stunning metallic one-shoulder gown, debuting a fresh bob hairstyle.
However, during a tribute performance by Chris Stapleton for country legend George Strait, cameras caught Biles standing behind Strait's wife, Norma. In the short clip, Biles appeared to glance toward Norma while swaying lightly to the music.
Later, as Strait accepted the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, the camera panned to Biles again, capturing another quick glance toward Norma.
These fleeting moments led some on social media to accuse Biles of giving Norma a "dirty look," though the claims were widely dismissed as overblown.
"The eye roll and look on her face was so disrespectful! I saw that. What's her deal?," a user noted.
Another claimed: "Anybody know if there's a beef between Simone Biles and George Strait wife?"
Yet, a third dismissed claims: "OMG! She is just looking in that direction. Doubt she is looking at her. Cant see any reason she would be giving her the eye......lol."
A night of glamour
Despite the buzz, Biles shined at the event. Following her red carpet appearance, she changed into a sparkly $176 suit from VICI to present Lainey Wilson with the Female Vocalist of the Year award.
The evening's highlight was the celebration of George Strait's career. Known as the "King of Country," Strait received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award for his monumental contributions to the genre.
In his acceptance speech, Strait gave a heartfelt nod to his wife of 53 years, Norma, as well as his fans and collaborators.
