‘Smug and Entitled’ Josh Duggar Blowing Parents’ Money in Prison: ‘Setting Himself Up for Trouble’

In photos of Josh Duggar taken on November 22, the most recent appearance of the convicted sex offender since 2022 when a prison photo leaked, the former 19 Kids and Counting star can be seen parading around prison sporting some designer swag, and a source exclusively reveals to In Touch the only reason he can afford it is because he’s been pestering his already cash-strapped parents for money and manipulating them from behind bars into giving him cash to special-order items in the slammer.

The shamed former reality star is currently doing a 151-month bid on child porn charges. From bombshell court docs, In Touch was the first to report that the sex pest’s father, Jim Bob Duggar, waited more than a year to tell police in 2003 after his son confessed to sexually molesting several female minors.

Instead, Jim Bob, 59, brought the issue to church elders, ultimately sending Josh away to a counseling camp run by a ministry to perform hard labor. The police officer who found out, Joseph Truman Hutchens, kept it to himself despite an obligation to report, which meant that when the allegations resurfaced in 2006 Josh couldn’t face trial. The issue died down a bit until, in April 2021, U.S. Marshalls arrested Josh on federal charges of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which was unrelated to the earlier accusations. They called Jim Bob to testify, who repeatedly claimed he couldn’t remember details about his son’s previous sex offense allegations.

Josh pleaded not guilty, but in December the same year a jury found him guilty of receiving and possessing CSAM. A judge sent him to prison for over 12 years, with his earliest possible release date in October 2032.

Despite squandering all the good will from his father and mother, Michelle Duggar, the imprisoned former star is still trying to manipulate his parents into giving him every last thing he can get out of them – which now means money in his commissary.

“Truth is, Josh has been rescued by his folks so many times and he probably thinks he deserves the finer things,” the source says. “Jim Bob and Michelle are sick with worry and Josh is guilting them even more into sending him cash so he can buy the luxuries that would otherwise be unavailable to him and live in style.”

Even in the clink Josh is still spoiled. The U.S. Sun reported that the items he was pictured wearing behind the wire fence aren’t available in the prison store, and must be ordered through a special service. “Inmates could make special orders for sunglasses or sneakers from specific vendors,” a different source confirmed to the publication.

The first source says that, “not only is he going around in sunglasses and pricey sneakers,” from the special-order service, “he’s also shopping for bath supplies and expensive skin creams, books and magazines, candy, soda and other comforts.” His parents’ money talks, and “he can even get larger portions by greasing a few hands in the kitchen,” the source adds.

“The other inmates don’t have what he has, and it just makes Josh look smug and entitled.”

“It’s no secret he’s setting himself up for trouble from thieves and bullies who aren’t going to take his showing off lying down. Clearly, he blames them and everybody else for his misfortune.”
