Marvel enthusiasts will have to display patience, as Spider-Man 4 has secured a release date quite far in the future; July 24, 2026 is the day earmarked. This follows the debut of Avengers: Doomsday, which hits screens on May 1, 2026.
Tom Holland is set to don the Spider-Man suit for his fourth solo outing as the titular hero Peter Parker and will be joined by Zendaya, who reprises her role as MJ with art imitating life as the pair are an off-screen couple too.
In a chat on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tom Holland let details slip about the production timeline of the anticipated sequel.
He shared his enthusiasm, revealing: "Next summer, we start shooting. Everything's good to go - we're nearly there. Super exciting. I can't wait!"
Holland has become synonymous with the role across three standalone features: the 2017 hit Spider-Man: Homecoming, the 2019 follow-up Spider-Man: Far From Home, and the 2021 blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home. He also swung into action in the ensemble Avengers flicks Infinity War and Endgame.
Directorial duties for the Spider-Man franchise were previously handled by Jon Watts for the trio of Holland-led films. However, a shift in the director's chair sees Destin Daniel Cretton of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fame stepping in for the forthcoming instalment, reports the Express.
Spider-Man: No Way Home proved to be a cinematic juggernaut, smashing records with a global box office pull of over $1.9 billion against a production cost of $200 million, outperforming its series predecessor, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which itself garnered a formidable $1.133 billion in 2019.
With such commercial success, the marvel-lous feat marked Spider-Man: No Way Home as the top-grossing film of 2021 and slung it into the pantheon of the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time upon its arrival.
The latest Spider-Man film not only set records for pandemic-era releases but also became the franchise's top-grossing movie.
Marvel enthusiasts have been swamping Reddit with posts since the release date was made public.
A fan commented: "So this guy is gonna have an avengers movie, a Spider-Man movie and a Nolan movie all out in the same year. Is this going to be the first time in history an actor grosses over $4 billion in 1 year?"
Another remarked: "You know something, tom Holland will be the 3rd superhero actor to have 4 solo movies playing the same character."
Meanwhile, another user noted: "It's worth noting that Christopher Nolan's next movie is scheduled for the week before and also features Tom Holland in a leading role."
Spider Man 4 releases in cinemas on 24th July, 2026.
