Spotify has responded to Drake’s lawsuit against them, calling his allegations “false.”

Drake claims the streaming platform is working with his record label, UMG, to boost the sales of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” by using bots and payola.

“The predicate of Petitioner’s entire request for discovery from Spotify is false,” the lawsuit reads, adding that Drake’s claims are “far-fetched” and “speculative.”

“What petitioner is seeking to do here … is to bypass the normal pleading requirements … and obtain by way of pre-action discovery that which it would only be entitled to seek were it to survive a motion to dismiss,” the motion added. “This subversion of the normal judicial process should be rejected.”

K.Dot released “Not Like Us” after being goaded into a rap beef by the Canadian rapper, who urged him to “drop, drop, drop.”

Spotify says it works hard to weed out stream manipulation and that it removes royalties and takes other actions when artists do.
