When it comes to having an indulgent meal, steak is up there with many people's favourites.

Served with chips, mashed potatoes or some vegetables - there are so many ways you can enjoy it. But, when it comes to cooking the meat, it's not always easy to get right.

People can often overcook it, undercook it or be left with some pretty dry meat. Luckily, Gordon Ramsay recently shared a TikTok video explaining how people can pull it off with ease.

According to the famed TV chef, all you really need to do is add a simple ingredient to the pan to be left with a crispy exterior and super tender meat. He revealed all in the simple clip.

He started by oiling the pan and he adds a little more later down the line too. Then he turns to his secret ingredient - butter.

After he adds the butter to the pan, Gordon says: "And then as that's frothing, all you have to do now is spoon that over, and it's just implementing more and more flavour.

"And so you can see why we need that amount of fat now. That's it. At this point, that's going really nice and brown.

"We can save this fat as well. So, roasted potatoes, roasted veg later on in this fat without butter. But butter gives that really nice beurre noisette flavour, which is beautiful.

"You can see that froth. I love that butter, got to stay nice and brown. It won't burn because of the oil."

The video has been viewed over 200,000 times since it was shared, and people were quick to comment. They had all sorts of thoughts about the cooking process.

One person said: "Made my entire house smell for two weeks after cooking a steak proper."

Another said: "I love steak, but can't with all the butter. I'm happy with just salt and a high heat pan."

A third replied: "Just FYI, you can cook a supermarket £5 steak like this (and rest of course), and it is spectacular."

Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "I'm pregnant and have been wanting a good steak for weeks. Ugh, I need this."
