Strictly Come Dancing 2024 contestant splits from partner after appearance on show

2 weeks ago 4

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant and Olympic swimmer Tom Dean reportedly ended his relationship with partner Charlotte Phillips during his recent appearance on the show.

The 24-year-old swimmer is said to have quietly called it quits with Charlotte about two weeks into the series, with sources stating their romance had “naturally run its course” and that the split had “nothing” to do with his participation on the BBC show, reports the Mirror.

Tom’s dance partner, Nadiya Bychkova, 35, who recently separated from Kai Widdrington, 29, was also not a factor in the breakup. Tom and Nadiya were the first couple to be voted off Strictly this season on September 29.

A source told the Daily Mail, “Tom and Lottie’s year-long relationship had naturally come to an end, and it just so happened to be in the first couple of weeks of the series. They are still good friends, and it’s all very amicable.”

Tom hadn’t posted about Charlotte in a while, but he has kept fans updated on his friendship with Nadiya since their time on Strictly. The former dance partners attended the Pride of Britain Awards together, along with other contestants and professionals from the season, showing that they’ve remained close friends since their unexpected exit.

Addressing the experience, he wrote in a post on Instagram a t the time: "The journey may have ended a little earlier than I hoped and of course I am so gutted, but I'm so grateful for all the amazing people I met, people I'll be cheering on throughout and who I know will continue to smash it. And to my brilliant partner [Nadiya], thank you so much for everything. You've been an amazing teacher and to have danced alongside you has been an absolute privilege. Over and out Strictly! You've been an absolute blast."
