Former Strictly Come Dancing star Nick Knowles has shown off his new knee and arm braces and shared his hope a planned operation can wait for a while thanks to his new Robocop look

Axed Strictly Come Dancing contestant Nick Knowles is going full Robocop as he battles to fully recover from an arm injury.

The DIY SOS presenter took to Instagram today to show off his new support system weeks on from first hurting his arm during a freak accident changing a tyre on his car.

Showing off new knee and arm braces, Nick told his followers: "New Robocop knee and arm braces. Getting mobile again and may not need the knee op for a while as it's getting so strong with the braces.

Nick previously disclosed that he requires two surgeries on his arm and leg due to injuries sustained during his stint on Strictly Come Dancing. The 62-year-old became the third celebrity to be voted off the 20th anniversary series of the popular BBC One dance show last month.

His exit came just hours after Nick made a comeback to the dance competition, having missed Movie Week due to a knee injury. Appearing on an episode of Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two following his departure from the show, Nick's professional partner Luba Mushtuk was moved to tears as they watched a touching montage of their best moments on the show.

An emotional Luba, 34, managed to say "Yes", before regaining her composure. "Thank you, thank you for being you and for being an incredible student. I loved every single moment, we'll still dance again." During the interview, Nick revealed that he will have to undergo two surgeries after suffering painful injuries while participating in the BBC competition.

Once recovered, the TV star plans to return to rehearsals in preparation for his wedding. He even mentioned that his professional partner Luba would be choreographing his first dance with fiancée Katie Dadzie. "I think it was the right result in the end and it means I can get the various bits falling off sorted. I'm having an operation on my arm this week and an operation on my knee in a couple or three weeks," he shared. .

Following his departure from the show, Nick responded with a five-word statement: "It was the right result." He elaborated: "I had a week off and you can see actually everyone had progressed a lot in that week, I just didn't have time to be able to catch up and do well enough to stay in the competition."

"I think it was the right result in the end and it means I can now get the various bits of me that are falling off sorted out. Literally, I might have an operation on the arm this week and then another operation on the knee in a couple or three weeks' time. So I can get myself sorted."
