Fans saw Wynne Evans mark the end of his Strictly Come Dancing journey as he took to the floor with Katya Jones for their final dance.

On Sunday, the pair became the eighth twosome to exit the hit BBC One competition after the most recent round of eliminations.

The opera star and his dynamic dance partner had rallied themselves after narrowly escaping being sent packing the week prior, as they faced off against Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu.

But despite showing resilience, they took their last stride in Blackpool's iconic Tower Ballroom during the much-anticipated special.

Their Charleston capped off with a bold move Wynne whirlwinding Katya by her feet.

Judge Anton Du Beke lauded the Carmen Suite No. 1: 5. Les Toreadors-inspired performance for its gusto and dedication, but pointed out that Wynne seemed “exhausted towards the end of the dance.”

Despite their effort, it wasn't enough to avoid another dreaded dance-off as they faced the glare of red lights once more, this time opposite Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe.

In a unanimous verdict, the panel decided to keep Montell and Johannes in the competition, propelling them into the tenth week of Strictly's celebratory 20th season, and sealing the departure for Wynne and Katya.

After discussing their week nine exit on the spin-off show It Takes Two, Wynne shared a glowing photo of him and Katya in front of a glitter-dazzled wall on Instagram.

Alongside the cheerful picture, he expressed his gratitude and penned: “That's it from Evans and Jones for now. Last radio show done.

“I've had the best time and that's down to @katyajones and absolute legend. You're amazing. Thank you everyone for cheering us on! Katya - Diolch.”

Katya reciprocated the sentiment on social media, commenting: “Once your Strictly partner, Forever your Strictly Partner.”

Taking to the comments with disappointment, fans including @huwphilippa declared: “Don't think I can bring myself to carry on watching Strictly, it's definitely not going to be the same without both.”

@janetmartin4172 wrote: "So sad will not be the same without this lovely pair."

As @debbiesnijders complimented: "Going to miss watching you both dance you were wonderful.”

@gardeningfairy21 replied: "You two have been brilliant together. Strictly won't be the same without you next Saturday. Diolch."
