Shirley Ballas says she's 'exhausted'
Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has a hugely successful career, but has struggled to replicate that success when it comes to romances.
In a heart-breaking new interview, she revealed that she'd lacked a "fatherly figure" in her life after her dad left the family home when she was just two - and she hinted that might be the reason why her relationships with men could have failed. The 64-year-old opened up to sporting heroine Gabby Logan on an episode of her podcast The Mid Point.
She confessed: "I don't think I've always been successful in relationships to be perfectly honest. I'm more the person that when I leave the earth people will remember what I helped them with.
"I don't think I'll be remembered for the person who had the most successful relationships." Delving into the reasons why, she reflected: "I didn't have that fatherly figure from when I was two. He wasn't part of my life at all."
She added that her dad had only become "a bit more friendly" when she landed her major BBC role on Strictly, and said his prior absence had left her lacking "that role model of how to gauge and what to expect when you're married".

Despite not being able to model her adult relationships on the parental ones she'd seen as a child, she has been in two marriages and a string of other romances.
However, she decisively declared to Alan Carr on his Life's A Beach podcast that she will never attempt marriage again.
"Two marriages, an engagement, two long-term relationships later and I will not be getting married again. I've made the decision," she stormed.
The comments come six months after Shirley announced she was no longer engaged to younger lover Danny Taylor, who is 13 years her junior.

In January, she declared that she would've married the panto and theatre star "tomorrow if he'd asked me".
Although they did get engaged, she subsequently backtracked and said the couple were happy as they were, before the relationship seemingly ended altogether.
Shirley previously tied the knot with ballroom star Sammy Stopford when she was still a teen and stayed married to him for four years, before wedding another dancer, Corky Ballas, the following year for a 22-year marriage.
However, she jokingly quipped of men: "My mum says they're like buses - you get on one and you get off the other. It's fine!"
