Survivor 47, Episode 8 proved that you should never underestimate someone. The 90-minute saga was full of drama and betrayal. One player decided to go rogue and flip on his allies, changing the trajectory of the game.
If you missed the messiness, don’t worry, we have you covered.
Here is everything you missed on Survivor 47, Episode 8, “He’s all that.”
What happened on Survivor 47, Episode 8?
Tonight’s episode featured the beloved Survivor auction. The castaways bet on a wide array of food rewards that helped quench their thirst and silence their hunger. Rachel even got an Immunity Idol out of it! Unfortunately, Sam was the player with the most cash at the end of the auction, which cost him his vote at Tribal Council. Kyle and Sue won immunity during the challenge, protecting them from elimination this week. Sam and Sierra wanted to work with Lavo to get rid of a Tuku member but Genevieve and Andy had a different idea. They elicited the help of Tuku to break up Sam and Sierra. At Tribal, Sierra became the 8th person voted out of Survivor 47.

Rachel looks for her ‘guardian angel’
Episode 8 began with the castaways recovering from Tribal Council. Last week, Rachel narrowly escaped elimination thanks to a “safety without power” advantage given to her by an anonymous source on the opposing team. Her advantage put the Tuku tribe in a compromising position. Now that the lone Gata member was safe, they would be forced to eat one of their own. The tribe sacrificed Tiyana, ending her time on the Island.
In tonight’s episode, Rachel was determined to find her “guardian angel.” Sol confessed to her that he was the sender and the two vowed to protect each other in the game. I think this alliance will be great for Rachel. Her position in the game is shaky and she could use a player like Sol looking out for her.
While Rachel’s position is precarious, she isn’t without allies. Her Gata squad has her back. Her former tribe member Sam pulls her aside for a game talk. He wants Gata and Lavo to target Tuku this week. While the idea of a Gata-Tuku war is exciting, I’m so worried for my man Kyle. If the group decides to go for a Tuku member, he is the obvious choice. He’s my favorite on that tribe but I know his time on the Island is running out. He’s simply too big of a threat. Rachel is down to target Tuku, especially after learning they wanted her out at the last Tribal Council.
The Survivor 47 auction has arrived
Downtime comes to an end with the announcement of the Survivor auction. The castaways are jumping for joy and honestly, me too. I love the Survivor auction! Here’s how it works. The castaways will go on a hunt for bamboo tubes filled with cash. Once the hunt ends, the castaways count their money and head to the auction where they have the chance to bet on food items. Jeff Probst will reveal the prizes one by one and the castaways will bet on the items. But wait, there’s a catch. You didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?
Jeff explains that the first five items are a guarantee, meaning the castaways can count on at least five items being included in the auction. The number of items left in the auction after that is unknown. Jeff pulls a random number (6-15) out of a bag, which tells him the number of items that will be in the auction. The castaways are not privy to this information. The auction will come to an end after the auction reaches the secretly determined number of items. At that point, the player with the most money left will lose their vote at Tribal Council.
In the hunt for cash, some players come out victorious while other players come up short. Sierra finds over $1000 while Andy doesn’t find a single bamboo tribe. It’s pretty comical watching Andy hunt for money. There are multiple times that he walks right past a bamboo tube without noticing it. Oh, Andy, his game is a mess but I can’t help but root for him.
Who loses their vote during the auction?
The auction was a blast to watch and several castaways walked away with full stomachs. Teeny won some delicious mac and cheese, Kyle broke his vegetarian diet to munch on some wings, and Sierra enjoyed chips and guac paired with a margarita. There were also some punishments. Gabe bet on a mystery item that ended up being a coconut (womp, womp) and Caroline was gifted fish eyes. At one point, Sue, Sam, and Caroline competed in a bug-eating challenge to win a breakfast plate, which was disgusting. Sam came out on top.
Food wasn’t the only reward at the auction. Rachel was chowing down on her well-earned burger when she noticed an advantage hidden in her fries. She managed to put the piece of paper in her pocket without anyone noticing but she didn’t get a chance to open it. More on that later…
Sam was the castaway with the most money at the end of the auction, meaning he will not have a vote at Tribal Council.
Rachel opens her advantage
Back at camp, Rachel opens her advantage. The paper says that there is an Immunity Idol sewn into the corner of a tarp. She finds it quickly and secures the idol. I’m sure she’s relieved to have a little insurance after her brush with Survivor death last week.
It’s Day 14, which means the castaways are done with pleasantries and are now in full-on game mode. They start strategizing about potential targets before the Immunity Challenge. Sierra, Teeny, and Rachel want to go after a Tuku member and they think Kyle should be the target. Damn, I knew this would happen. It makes total sense, but why, oh why, can’t it be Gabe? Kyle has won two immunity two weeks in a row, so yeah, he should be the target, but I’ll miss him terribly if he goes this week.
Genevieve is aligned with Lavo and Gata but she doesn’t want to go along with their plan. See, this is why I love her. She talks to Sue and Caroline and getting rid of a Gata member. More on that later…
Who won the Individual Immunity Challenge on Survivor 47, Episode 8?
Tonight’s Immunity Challenge tasked the players with holding onto a bucket equivalent to 25 percent of their pregame body weight. This challenge will reward immunity to two players. The last man and last woman standing will be safe from Tribal Council. It’s a grueling battle but Sue and Kyle manage to come out victorious. I’m thrilled for Sue and beyond worried for Kyle. Sure, he’s safe this week but the man’s long-term prospects are toast. They’ll vote him out the first chance they get.
Who went home on Episode 8 of Survivor 47?
Back at camp, the castaways are scrambling to come up with a name. Sam pitches Gabe since they can’t get Kyle this week. He assumes he has the support of Gata but he’s in for a rude awakening because underdog Andy is going rogue. He knows he’s merely a prop to Sierra and Sam. He’s ready to flip. Tuku, Genevieve, and Andy hatch a plan to target Gata but there is some disagreement about which member should be voted off the Island. They bring in Sol and Teeny who reluctantly agree but don’t want to vote out Rachel. It’s unclear who is the target going into Tribal. Rachel plays her Shot In the Dark as a safety precaution. This is a very interesting move because she has an Idol in her pocket. She must feel safer than she’s letting on. That move makes zero sense to me. Jeff reads the votes and it’s tied between Sierra and Sam. The Gata duo will be broken up tonight. The castaways vote again to break the tie and Sierra becomes the 8th person voted out of Survivor 47.
I hate to see Sierra go but this was a good move. Sierra and Sam were a deadly duo in the game and it was smart to break them up. Sierra was the sneakier player, so I think they made the right choice targeting her over Sam. He will continue to be a big threat whereas she may have been able to fly under the radar.
See you next week for the next episode of Survivor 47!
