“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert found that some of the biggest names in MAGA are all using a very revealing word when referring to President Donald Trump.
Colbert rolled a clip of film star Mel Gibson ― who he called “Mentally Ill Max” ― speaking about Trump’s visit to California to see the wildfire damage in a state he’s also frequently criticized.
“I’m glad Trump’s here at the moment,” Gibson said. “It’s like daddy arrived and he’s taking his belt off.”
Colbert’s audience groaned at Gibson’s analogy.
“Pretty weird to get that excited about a physically abusive father,” Colbert sad. “But at least now we know this about Mel Gibson.”
It’s not just Gibson.
Colbert showed a number of other right-wing figures calling Trump “dad” and “daddy.”
“Sweet mother of Oedipus,” Colbert said. “If Sigmund Freud was alive today, he’d say ‘he cray-cray.’ And ‘do you have some cocaine?’”
That wasn’t the only strange “daddy” reference from the MAGA faithful.
