It's no secret that lovebirds Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce love a good party — the pair have hosted several huge bashes to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs star player's milestone wins. But Swift has made it clear that her man will not get to hit the bars in party town New Orleans ahead of his Super Bowl matchup Sunday, February 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Swift, 35, Travis, 35, and Kelce's mom, Donna Kelce, 72, were all smiles while standing on his home field of Arrowhead Stadium following his team's win over the Buffalo Bills that scored their spot in Super Bowl LIX, Travis' fifth. And a hilarious chat between the three of them was caught on video.
In a clip shared to social media by a fan (and credited to the Kansas City Star newspaper) on Monday, January 27, the excited threesome chatted about heading to NOLA for the big game. As confetti rained down on them, Travis said, "Take me back to my old New Orleans home," before adding, "I owe New Orleans a little something..."
Pop star Swift, who's been with the football player since summer 2023, then asked if he was referring to a now-famous incident that happened in 2010. The tight end was hit with a year-long suspension from college football after testing positive for marijuana after hitting Bourbon Street too hard on New Year's Eve, ahead of his team's appearance at the Sugar Bowl.
After Kelce confirmed it, Swift good-naturedly warned, "Yeah, no going to Bourbon Street." Mama Kelce agreed and said, "Know your history." "Yeah, I won't be having as much fun as that night," Travis promised, laughing and tightening his arm around his pop star girlfriend.
Travis' parting promise? "No grenades!" It's a reference to his NOLA cocktail or choice, a stiff concoction of vodka, rum, gin and melon liqueur called a Hand Grenade.
The last time Travis' Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, his brother Jason was still a player on the team, leaving Donna to split her allegiance with a suit jacket that was half Eagles, half Chiefs. During that game, the Chiefs bested the Eagles, 38-35.
