The Golden Bachelorette Episode 9 wrapped up Joan’s journey for an amazing second love. While torn between Chock and Guy, Joan ultimately had to listen to her heart to decide who was right for. Only one of the suitors had the chance to meet Joan’s family, as she decided early on that she didn’t see a future with the other. Joan’s journey had a successful ending, and the first ever Golden Bachelorette is still engaged today!

The episode started off with Joan feeling bad following her sudden break-up with Pascal. Thankfully, her friend Nancy was there to help her pick herself back up. Nancy wasn’t the only one, as Chock helped Joan feel better as soon as he saw her. Chock was the first man scheduled to meet Joan’s family, including her daughter Alli and her husband Noah, and Joan’s son Nick and his fiancé Brooke. Is it just me or could he be Chris Harrison’s long lost son?

Chock didn’t hold back and instantly proclaimed that he was going to kiss Joan. This was a little bold Chock! Despite the somewhat awkward moment, Chock’s meeting with the family went well. Nick told Chock that while he was nervous, he trusted Joan to make the right decision and felt that could be Chock. Alli was also supportive and told Joan that she wanted her mom to finally do something for herself. It’s safe to say Chock passed the family test.

Later that night, Chock had his final date with Joan. The pair sat down for some champagne and snacks for a cozy night in. Chock made sure not to leave anything on the table and told Joan how much he loved her. He also promised her that he was ready to move to New York City with her and gifted her a heart shaped lock to prove it. This is amazing for Chock and Joan but what about Guy?

A sad ending for Guy

After it became apparent that Chock and Joan were endgame, it was clear what this unfortunately meant for Guy. As he prepared to meet Joan’s family, Guy expressed that he hoped to have a great day despite the rain. Oh no, poor Guy! The camera switches to Joan, who admits that she found the love she came to find. Joan knows what she has to do, although it won’t be easy for her or Guy.

Joan sat down with Guy and explained that she didn’t want to put him through meeting her family, as her heart belonged to Chock. Guy was both surprised and devastated and cried upon hearing the news. He had fallen in love with Joan, and he didn’t expect to be broken up with so soon. Joan emphasized that she really cared for him and the two shared a long hug before Joan left. Guy stood out in the rain to cry some more, is it just me or was the rain a paid actor here?

Following the emotional segment, Guy sat down for a chat with Jesse Palmer. Once again, Guy explained that he was surprised when Joan revealed her true feelings to him. He was pretty confident that he would be the last one standing. Nonetheless, Guy is thankful for the journey and opportunity he had to connect with Joan. After talking with Jesse, Guy reunited with Joan onstage and the two shared a long hug. Joan assured Guy that she really cared for him and that she only wanted the best for him. It’s great to see everyone staying on good terms this season!

A heartfelt proposal from Chock

Now that Guy has left, Chock is officially the last man standing! After talking to Jesse, Chock heads over to meet Joan on the beach. The lovebirds recapped their journey up until this point and reflected on their feelings. Joan told Chock that she realized how much she cared for him after he left when his mother passed away. Chock promised Joan that he would honor Joan’s husband John by loving her every single day. I must admit, these two do make a lovely pair.

Finally, Chock heard the words “I love you” back from Joan which he had been waiting for. Chock got down on one knee and asked Joan to marry him. Joan happily accepted and the pair called her mother Mary right away to share the amazing news. Congrats to Bachelor Nation’s newest couple!

After their proposal aired, Joan and Chock joined Jesse onstage for their first public appearance as a couple. Not being able to go out in public was no problem for this couple, who enjoyed spending time at home together to learn more about one another. Joan and Chock were thrilled to officially announce their engagement and the two really looked great together! To close things out, Jesse announced that Bachelor Nation was sending the pair to Disney World! This is perfect since their first date was at Disneyland. Let the magic begin!

As one season ends, another prepares to begin. Bachelor Nation fans got a sneak peek at Grant Ellis’ season of The Bachelor, I can’t wait for this one! See you soon Bachelor Nation!
