THE beauty industry is a billion-pound business - and it’s only becoming more sophisticated.
Celebrities, of course, are at the forefront when it comes to ensuring their image is meticulously maintained.
While many might assume these stars are relying on nips and tucks, advancements in skincare and treatments mean that many reality stars and A-listers are defying the ageing process without going under the knife.
Harley Street Skin and Aesthetics Expert, Nina Prisk, Founder of Update Aesthetics Clinic says: “We are fortunate to live in an age where strong, powerful women are ageing so well.
“They are celebrating their natural beauty and taking steps to improve the health of their body and skin, rather than trying to totally transform their looks like we might have seen a few decades ago.”
Here, Nina reveals to YASMIN HARISHA the beauty secrets behind the celebrities who appear not to age.
Helena Christensen, 56
She just turned 56 on 25 December, but doesn't look a day older than her catwalk days.
Nina says: “Helena's youthful beauty and enviable physique are no doubt down to a combination of lifestyle factors such as nutrition, hydration, and exercise, alongside steps to protect her skin against the sun’s harmful rays, which can cause premature ageing.
“Wearing a cap, for example, is an ideal way to protect the face and scalp from sun damage, as is wearing a high-factor broad-spectrum SPF, which she undoubtedly uses to help prevent sun spots and other sun-related skin damage such as lines and wrinkles.”
Lisa Snowdon, 53
Lisa looks incredible, and this is no doubt down to a 360-degree approach to health, which can be achieved by nurturing the body inside and out.
I was so pretty I stopped traffic, never paid for drinks & always got asked out - then I grew up & now feel invisible
Nina says: “A healthy, balanced diet and supplements are likely the cornerstone of her health regime, helping to keep her skin looking fresh and glowing.
“In-clinic treatments such as lasers may have been used to stimulate collagen production, along with clinical-grade topical skincare products to retain that youthful glow.”
Halle Berry, 58
Hydration is an important part of skin health for Halle Berry and, indeed, overall appearance.
As a vital component of the skin, hyaluronic acid plays an integral role in maintaining hydration and elasticity.
As part of the natural ageing process, the body’s stores of hyaluronic acid decline, so using topical skincare products rich in hyaluronic acid can help deliver hydration and improve skin health.
Nina says: “It’s likely that Halle Berry invests in this to keep her skin looking so healthy and fresh.
“Used as part of a home skincare regimen after dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid can help encourage maximum efficacy as well as extend the longevity of results.
“In addition to delivering hyaluronic acid to the skin through cosmetics, injectable treatments such as Profhilo – a hydration treatment that slowly releases hyaluronic acid beneath the skin – can improve hydration while also stimulating collagen production.”
Jennifer Aniston, 55
Jennifer has credited a simple skincare routine, drinking lots of water and using an SPF.
Nina reckons she has also had regenerative-medicine treatments such as polynucleotides that are effective for aiding optimum skin health.
She says: “It’s likely that they may be one of the reasons behind Jennifer’s incredible skin texture and plumpness.
“When injected into the skin, polynucleotides stimulate fibroblasts to encourage cell turnover, improve elasticity, and boost collagen production.
“Used to address a range of specific skin concerns, including premature ageing, dark circles, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation, they can also help improve skin texture by stimulating collagen and elastin production.
“Additionally, they hydrate the skin and offer anti-inflammatory properties.”
Jennifer Lopez (JLo), 55
At 55 years old, JLo continues to look like she is still Jenny from the block.
Now, as a mum-of-two, she credits a good night's sleep and hydration to staying so young-looking, but Nina also thinks there could be something else.
“Her smooth, fresh face could be achieved with the help of ‘Baby Botox’,” she explains.
“This term describes the use of small doses of muscle relaxant injected into the face. It’s similar to traditional neurotoxin injections but is administered in smaller amounts.
“It still blocks nerve signals that tell your muscles to contract; however, it aims to achieve a more natural-looking result.
“This is why it has soared in popularity and is favoured by a host of celebrities, who appreciate the natural results it can achieve.
“It allows people to create the best version of themselves, rather than completely transforming their looks.
“Baby Botox can also be used preventatively to help reduce the formation of wrinkles.”
Tess Daly, 55
She presents BBC’s dancing show, so of course she knows how to be Strict-ly when it comes to looking after her skin.
Previously speaking to The Telegraph, Tess revealed: “A friend of mine had had the treatment a few months earlier, and she looked so great.
“She looked well rested and her skin was glowing. I thought ‘ok, let’s give this a go’.
“I loved the fact that Ultherapy boosts your own collagen for natural-looking results, and that it was a non-invasive treatment. I think it’s quite a revelation really.”
It works by using ultrasound energy to tighten and lift the skin.
She also previously revealed that she uses an £18 essential SPF by La-Roche Posay on repeat.
Biggest skincare trends for 2025
Face The Future's Head of Clinic, Kimberley Medd, shared the five skincare trends predicted to take off in 2025.
1. Exosomes
Exosomes are the buzzword for 2025, taking advanced skin regeneration to new heights. These micro-messengers signal skin cells to repair damage, boost collagen, and accelerate recovery, and they’re a gamechanger for targeting ageing.
2. Streamlined Skincare
The age of 12-step routines is fading as consumers shift to more intentional, multi-functional products. Streamlining skincare not only saves time but also reduces the risk of overloading your skin. In 2025, we’ll see a rise in hybrid products that combine active ingredients for simplified, effective results.
3. Vegan Collagen
Plant-based collagen will dominate the skincare world this year, providing a sustainable, ethical alternative to traditional animal-derived collagen. Expect vegan collagen in everything from moisturisers to serums.
4. The Rise Of AI
AI is revolutionising the beauty landscape, making it possible for consumers to get truly personalised skincare solutions. In 2025, we predict a dramatic shift towards AI-powered tools that help people understand their skin on a deeper level.
5. Hair Loss Solutions -
Hair loss is an issue that affects more men than we often realise, and it’s no longer just something we’re talking about behind closed doors. This year, expect to see a continued rise in demand for treatments that not only tackle hair loss but also nurture overall scalp health.
