The View's Kyle Falconer missed his own Vegas wedding booked by pal Martin Compston

Rocker Kyle Falconer has told how he left actor pal Martin Compston in the lurch after a Vegas wedding cock-up.

Kyle, frontman of Dundee band The View, married partner Laura Wilde in a Halloween-themed wedding in Edinburgh last Saturday.

But Kyle has revealed he failed to get a US visa in time after Compston booked a wedding venue for him in Vegas.

It’s the second time he has jilted Greenock-born Martin at a wedding – he missed seeing the Line of Duty star tie the knot in 2016 after he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly on a flight from Glasgow to Spain.

Kyle said: “Martin had booked us a place in Vegas, we were supposed to get married there. But it didn’t happen, I didn’t get the visa on time. I had to do it here at the last minute.” Kyle, who has battled addiction issues, added: “We were all in fancy dress. There was a few people I had no idea who they were.

“Everyone was absolutely plastered, but I remained sensible and told them ‘Just put a bit of soda water in your beer’.”

The star, who now lives in Spain, turned up with his new bride at Glasgow’s Barrowlands for The Scottish Music Awards on Saturday, where he received the King Tuts’ Songwriter Award.

He said: “I fly back to Spain tomorrow. I’ve three bairns and another on the way. It’s just kids daft.”
