There are a few unspoken rules in life: never text your ex after midnight, don't cut bangs during a crisis, and absolutely do not guess a woman's age. Apparently, Bradley Cooper didn't get the memo.
On the Tuesday, January 28 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Amy Schumer shared an awkward encounter she had with the 50-year-old Hangover icon that left her stunned.
"I saw [Cooper], and you know, 'How are you?'" Schumer, 43, recalled. "And he said, 'You know, I turned 50 this year.' And he goes, 'You 50?'"
For the record, the Trainwreck actress just turned 43 last June.
"I tried to kind of like, recover," she admitted. "Cause whatever, I'm 43, but you know, I'm like, 'I will be 50.'" But ultimately, she just gave it to him straight. "'Yeah, no, I'm not, Bradley, you know. I'm not. But thank you for thinking of me.'"
Cooper, who celebrated his milestone birthday on Sunday, January 5, spent his big day taking his 7-year-old daughter, Lea (whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend Irina Shayk) to a Philadelphia Eagles game before running into Schumer and unknowingly adding years to her age.
The I Feel Pretty star laughed off the moment, but admitted it stung a little. "We all want to be hot," she joked. "This is how bad people want to be hot — people literally run. They run Jimmy!"
Schumer then jumped up and started jogging in place, acting out what she imagined goes through a jogger's head. "Somebody have sex with me!" she said, as the audience erupted in laughter and applause. The Emmy-winning stand-up comedian went on to poke fun at Peloton riders, joking, "They're riding a bike to nowhere to the Wicked soundtrack. It's pathetic!"
This isn't the first time Schumer has talked about the American Sniper actor. Back in 2015, she openly gushed about her crush on him, calling him "the kind of hot, trust me, when he is in front of you, you just grab your ankles."
"You would just say things you didn't mean," she teased at the time. "Like, 'Any hole's fine.'"
Schumer's Tonight Show appearance comes just a week after she opened up about her struggles with online bullying. The New York native revealed on the Wednesday, January 22 episode of Call Her Daddy that harsh comments about her "swollen" face ultimately led to a diagnosis of Cushing's syndrome, a hormonal disorder caused by elevated cortisol levels.
"I learned I had this condition, and that I had something called 'moon face,'" she told host Alex Cooper. Schumer explained that the internet had been ruthless about the changes in her face. "I was like, 'Okay, everybody, like, relax,'" she recalled, but the comments kept coming — this time from doctors. "They were like, 'No, no ... something's really up. Your face looks so crazy,'" she admitted.
Schumer tied the knot with chef Chris Fischer in February 2018, just months after they started dating. The couple welcomed their son, Gene, on May 5, 2019.
