A host of British landmarks have been transformed to play homage to the rise of the frozen pizza, as new research reveals that it is the nation's the first choice for a celebratory meal.

Rather than reach for the fizz, 78% say they celebrate good news by sharing a pizza with friends and family and 69% say it is their go-to meal if they want to make a weeknight feel special.

Three quarters of 2,000 adults polled on behalf of Goodfella’s said sharing a pizza with someone special makes them feel even closer and 63% associate the cheesy slices with pure comfort.

Talking of comfort, 72% would rather eat pizza at home than go out for one – and 81% admit having a stash in the freezer is their secret weapon when it comes to entertaining.

In the run up to National Pizza Day on February 9, Goodfella’s is hosting free pizza parties across the UK and has taken over Goodison Park in Liverpool, Good Road in Poole, the coastal town of Goodwick in Wales and Goodtrees Garden in Edinburgh – with all signage changed from Good to Goooood.

The ‘goooood vibes’ tour ends with a street party in Gooooodge Street on February 6 where TikToker @puwtok and foodie influencer @beccaeatseverything will be handing out free slices - and anyone is invited.

Goodfella’s spokesperson Claire Hoyle said: “While 72% of Brits say they prefer to enjoy pizza at home with family or friends, nearly a quarter (20%) share pizza weekly, and 65% are likely to bring it to a gathering.

"This tour is all about celebrating those connections, and we can’t wait to finish it in style at ‘Gooooodge Street.’”
