Ruth Langsford empathises with Tommy Fury over public break-up

Professional boxer Tommy Fury was met with applause from the studio audience on Loose Women this week during a discussion about being a parent to his daughter Bambi.

Tommy, 25, was on the ITV show on Tuesday to promote his memoir Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as a Fury. He was also asked during the interview about his split from Molly-Mae Hague, 25, which was announced back in August.

The former couple had met on Love Island in 2019 and later got engaged. Tommy and Molly-Mae have previously said that their daughter Bambi, one, who they are now co-parenting, remains their priority following their break-up.

It's been suggested that Tommy appeared awkward and agitated when his split from Molly-Mae was brought up on Loose Women. The interview also saw him receive applause from the audience whilst talking about Bambi, like when he said the family are "entitled" to "privacy" for her sake.

Introducing the topic of his family, Ruth Langsford - whose own split from Eamonn Holmes has made headlines this year - said: "Obviously, nobody could have missed the story that you and Molly-Mae had sadly broken up. We were all very sad to read that because we had all followed this wonderful love story of the two of you on Love Island."

She continued: "You have written about it in your book, because they delayed the publication of the book for you to write this last chapter. And you've said you don't want to go into detail about it, but how are the two of you doing? And you're obviously co-parenting Bambi and it's a tricky time. As I know going through these things in public, y'know, everyone's got something to say, without knowing the truth."

Tommy replied: "Yeah they really do, and that's been the overall thing of the past few months, y'know. I don't listen to anything in the press and social media because its all just ... that's one story, very apart from the real story."

He continued: "Like I said moving forward now, everyone's entitled to a private life, and me and Molly we got together when we were very young. And we just think going forward everything should be private now, because everyone's entitled to that and that's what I want." Prompting applause, he added: "Not only for me but for Bambi as well, y'know, for her sake."

Tommy was met with further applause whilst discussing being a parent to Bambi. He said: "[I'm] head over heels for her. She's got me round her finger already. [...] She's the light of my day. I don't care if everything else left me and I couldn't box anymore, I couldn't do anything, as long as I have her in my life and I could just pick her up and squeeze her, that's all that matters."
