TV presenter rushed to A&E in ambulance after collapsing at GP

6 hours ago 4

TalkTV presenter Peter Cardwell has shared that he was taken to hospital in an ambulance after collapsing at his GP's surgery.

He updated his followers on X, formerly known as Twitter, posting: "Thanks to everyone in touch about my health. Bit of drama yesterday at the GP where I collapsed and was brought to AandE in an ambulance; many tests, drips etc. Docs told me to rest for a week, so I'm hopefully back on air on Weds 29th. NHS and @TalkTV colleagues have been great."

The journalist, who presents on TalkTV on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, received a flood of well wishes from his followers.

One said: "Hope you didn't have to wait too long in AandE. Get well soon."

To which Peter responded: "Thanks -- they were excellent. I was very impressed."

Another follower joked: "Crikey - get well soon, Peter! I know you said you'd stopped drinking recently, do the doctors think that's the probable cause?" To which Peter retorted: "Haha -- that was six years ago, so I don't think the two are connected!"

"Wish you well Peter - must have been a scary time x," added another.

Later, the journalist posted a photo of himself resting on his sofa with his black cat for company, captioning it: "Thanks for all the good wishes. On the sofa with my best buddy Jack and on the mend, I think. Plan to be back on @TalkTV in a week," Peter has been dealing with health issues in recent weeks, reports the Mirror.

Peter had announced at the beginning of the month that he would be temporarily stepping away from broadcasting due to health concerns.

He wrote: "I haven't felt properly well physically since Christmas Day and been battling through in a very Silly Man/'l'm Not Ill' sort of way. Today a wall of flu-like symptoms have downed me. I'm not broadcasting again until at least Tuesday, to rest and recover. (Mental health all good)."

Before joining the media, Peter worked as a special adviser to numerous government ministers, providing tactical and strategic advice, as well as crisis management and media handling expertise.

At present, he provides coverage of Westminster politics for TalkTV, while also appearing on the channel in regular Friday, Saturday, and Sunday slots. Occasionally, he presents programmes on Times Radio.

Peter became a part of TalkTV in 2020, serving as both a presenter and the station's Chief Political Commentator.
