Jimmy Kimmel’s joke about Donald Trump on Thursday just might touch a nerve with the former president given the ongoing feud between the two.
Trump this week put on an orange vest and rode around in a garbage truck for a photo op.
“The garbage is driving the truck,” Kimmel cracked.
But Kimmel did spot an upside for the former president, who is awaiting sentencing after being convicted on 34 felony counts in New York and is embroiled in multiple other criminal cases.
“That vest will come in handy when he’s on the side of the highway picking up trash with the other inmates,” Kimmel said.
That’s not too different from a joke Kimmel told earlier this year that shook the former president so much he’s been complaining about it ever since.
That came in March, when Trump fired off an angry message on his Truth Social website aimed at Kimmel, who was hosting the Oscars. Kimmel read it on the air live during the event, then said he was surprised Trump was still watching.
“Isn’t it past your jail time?” Kimmel cracked in what would become one of the most viral moments of the event.
Trump, who reportedly tried to have Kimmel censored when he was president, has brought the joke up frequently and randomly, including in a Truth Social post in early October and at a rally in September where he completely botched the punchline.
