Real Housewives of Orange County castmember Emily Simpson addressed the topic of any financial support from her in-laws in November 2019 – a question that has dogged the reality star for years.
“Emily, I heard Shane’s parents bankroll your lifestyle. Is that true?” read the question that a fan had submitted.
“Well, it’s no secret that Shane’s parents are very wealthy,” the Housewife, 48, replied. “And so he has lots of investments that they set up for him. I never made that a secret.”
Emily, who married Shane Simpson in 2009, had more to say about where they get their cash.
Who Is ‘RHOC’ Star Emily Simpson’s Mother-in-Law Pary Simpson?
Part of Shane’s large Mormon family, Pary Simpson, is the mother of the Utah-native attorney. Emily, who is also an attorney, and her husband are very close with Shane’s parents. The family celebrated Shane’s oldest daughter’s wedding at his parents’ lavish Orange County home in August 2024.
[Shelby and her husband Evan] were married in the LDS Temple in Newport in the morning followed by a family dinner and ring ceremony at my in-laws’ home. So much fun, love, and memories shared in one beautiful day! My family from Ohio even came to the wedding,” Emily posted to Instagram after the event.
Though Emily is not Shelby’s mother, as she’s from Shane’s previous marriage, it’s clear the family is close even if not bound by blood.
Who Is ‘RHOC’ Star Emily Simpson’s Father-in-Law?
Not much is known publicly about Shane’s father, other than the fact that he’s very wealthy and considerate of his son’s future needs, according to Emily.
Do ‘RHOC’ Star Emily Simpson’s In-Laws ‘Bankroll’ Her Lifestyle?
Despite Emily having told viewers her in-laws set up a nice trust for her husband, she recently claimed in a post on Friday, November 8, that they don’t completely finance the family.
“If my in laws ‘funded our lifestyle’ I’d be living WAY larger than I am right now. I’d be on private jets with Heather Dubrow. They do not,” Emily stated.
The clarification came after another Housewife, Jennifer Pedranti, 47, accused Emily and her husband of being “bankrolled” by her in-laws during a heated argument.
Like Father, Like Son
Shane Simpson did not originally want to be on RHOC, which mirrors the fact that his father has also kept his privacy amid the explosive success of the show, despite his mother appearing in several episodes.
Still Emily insists that making the decision to join the cast was the right one, saying, “Going into the show five years ago, Shane was not a fan of being on the show at all. And he made that very clear to me,” She told Us Weekly in July 2023. “He was like, ‘I don’t wanna film, I don’t wanna be on a show. I don’t want you to be on a show.’ But he ultimately said, ‘But it’s up to you.’”
“Here we are five years later, and I feel like our relationship has done nothing but get better. And, so, I think he’s embraced that and realized that you can just have fun with it and be yourself.”
