The actress has now bagged a huge role, starring in Paddington 3.

Emily Mortimer was born on December 1, 1971.

The Hammersmith, London native is a beloved English actress and screenwriter who studied Russian at Oxford University's Lincoln College.

Before her career in acting began, he wrote a column for the Daily Telegraph and worked as a screenwriter for an adaptation of Lorna Sage's memoir, Bad Blood.

She is best known for her roles in Mary Poppins Returns, Shutter Island and Hugo.

Becoming a star of Paddington

In July 2024, it was revealed that Emily was replacing Sally Hawkins in Paddington 3.

She now plays the role of Mrs Brown.

Speaking about why she had left the role, Sally told Variety: "I already greatly miss my on and off-screen family – the experience of making the first two films has truly been some of the best and most creative times I have had in the world of film.

"They both gave me so much joy.

"I will forever hold them so very close to my heart indeed."

Mary Poppins fame

Emily plays Jane Banks, who had Mary Poppins as her nanny when she was a child.

In the film she is Michael's sister and his three children's aunt.

Since his wife's death Michael has been struggling with getting his finances in order and receives a repossession order on his parents' house in which he lives.

Luckily, Mary Poppins comes to help the family out.

Married life

Emily is married to American actor and producer Alessandro Antine Nivola.

He is best known for his roles in American Hustle, A Most Violent Year, and Face/Off.

The two met while starring in Love's Labour's Lost together in 2000.

In January 2003, the pair tied the knot at the village of Turville in Buckinghamshire.

The two have two children together.
