Why Teen Mom’s Kailyn Lowry ‘Doesn’t Do Holidays’ With Her 7 Kids: ‘Send Them to Their Dads’

Teen Mom’s Kailyn Lowry plans on having a lot of free time during the holiday season.

“I actually don’t do holidays,” Kailyn, 32, — who is a mother to seven children — told E! News on Tuesday, November 19. “All my kids go to their dads, and they have big families over there and they love their kids. I’m happy to send them to their dads for the holidays.”

Kailyn welcomed twins Verse and Valley in 2023 and her son Rio in 2022 with fiancé Elijah Scott. Additionally, she shares her 14-year-old son Isaac with ex Jo Rivera, 10-year-old son Lincoln with ex-husband Javi Marroquin, and sons Lux, 7, and Creed, 4, with ex Chris Lopez.

“Honestly, all my kids love each other so much,” the reality TV alum told the outlet. “I couldn’t have asked for better kids, truly.”

This follows a long tradition as Kailyn previously told her “Coffee Convo” podcast listeners in 2020 that she was not planning on celebrating Christmas with her large family.

“We’re not doing anything. Like, I’m just not gonna have them so they don’t have to get each other stuff,” she told her cohost Lindsie Chrisley. “I might ask them do they want to get each other anything for Christmas, and if they say yes, then I would just obviously facilitate that. They’re gonna be with their dads, I’m pretty sure, until the end of Christmas Day, so I feel like maybe by then it would be over but also I don’t know. It might be kind of nice to give each other something, so maybe we’ll see.”

In September, Kailyn also hinted that she may not be done growing her family after welcoming babies No. 6 and No. 7 last year with her fiancé, 26.

“One day I’m like, ‘OK, I’m definitely done.’ Yesterday, one of my girlfriends and I were laughing at wrestling, talking about, we’re definitely done,” Kailyn told E! News on September 22, when asked if she plans to expand her family. “But if you asked me two days ago, Elijah and I might have been planning to do IVF or something, I don’t know.”

Kailyn called it “bittersweet” to make a definitive decision about whether or not to stop having kids. “You think you’re done, and then you [have] these last squishy moments,” Kailyn continued. “I remember going through the twins’ three-month clothing, and I’m like, ‘This is the last time I’m ever going to do this. Like, are we sure we’re done?’”

She said more kids could have adverse effects when it comes to parenting, admitting that she worried about not spending an equal amount of time with all of her kids.

“I think I do a really good job with that now, but if I added more, I just don’t know that I would be able to give everybody individual time,” the MTV personality explained, adding that Elijah has “seamlessly folded into this chaos.”

“He handles it so well. But we’re also polar opposites. So when I’m having frantic moments, he’s very cool, calm and collected,” Kailyn continued to gush about Elijah, whom she confirmed her engagement to in August. “And so I think it’s a really good balance there. And my kids absolutely love him. So that also is a huge, huge, huge help.”
