Why the Police Allegedly Searched Jennifer Lopez's Ex-Boyfriend's House

Jennifer Lopez's ex-boyfriend, Casper Smart, had a run in with the law.

According to TMZ, after obtaining a search warrant, police searched the 37-year-old dancer's house in Los Angeles, California, while he was home with an unnamed woman shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday, December 23.

Per the outlet, the police received a tip that marijuana was being cultivated on his property, which officers reportedly did find to be true amid their search.

Despite allegedly growing cannabis, Smart was not arrested. Instead, he was cited at his house and released. The outlet explained that whether Smart is or isn't charged with a crime is up to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Smart was initially a backup dancer for the 55-year-old "Jenny From the Block" singer. The pair began a romantic relationship in 2011 after Lopez separated from then-husband Marc Anthony, with whom she shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max.

At the time, Lopez told People that Smart was helping her through a difficult time in her life. "I just got out of a big, heavy, devastating thing, and he's helped me heal," she admitted. "He's been there for me."

Smart and the "Love Don't Cost a Thing" hitmaker were on-again, off-again for about five years, and in August 2016, news broke that the pair officially called it quits. A few months later, People reported that the reason the relationship ended was because Smart cheated on Lopez. "She kicked him out because he cheated on her and he got caught," a source told the outlet.

The Monster in Law actress is now in the process of divorcing her fourth husband, Ben Affleck. The Good Will Hunting actor and the mom of two famously dated in the early 2000s and rekindled their romance in 2021. The couple tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022 and had a second wedding ceremony in Georgia in August of that year. However, in August of 2024, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck.

In October, the New York native spoke to Interview magazine and explained she wants to stay single for now and focus on herself.

"Yes, I'm not looking for anybody, because everything that I've done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f**king do when it's just me flying on my own...what if I'm just free?" she told the outlet.
