Labor can be long and arduous, so when a woman from Texas asked her husband to distract her from contractions, he didn't hesitate.

Jezlyn Bearden was in a delivery room being treated for preterm labor (when a woman begins labor before 37 weeks of pregnancy, leading to the risk of delivering the baby prematurely) when she asked her husband Grayson to calm the stressful moment.

The viral clip shows Grayson's spin on the interpretive dance trend circulating on social media at the moment. The trend, which started on TikTok, often involves users challenging their boyfriends or husbands to perform spontaneous interpretive dances in exchange for something such as staying over for the night or choosing what to watch on TV.

It turned out that Grayson Bearden had some previous dance experience. In the comments, his wife Jezlyn explained that he'd danced in Asia and in other parts of the U.S. before stopping years ago. @jezlynbearden

"My husband and I keep up with funny social trends, including the interpretive dance trend, and as we were sitting in a labor and delivery room... I knew it was the perfect opportunity to give it our own spin," Jezlyn told Newsweek.

The mom from Corpus Christi explained that her husband's dancing background made the moment even more special. "He has a background in pre-professional ballet, but he hasn't danced in so many years, so for him to bust out moves like those without warning absolutely cracked me up and kept me distracted through labor contractions," she said.

The video, which has racked up millions of views, shows Grayson leaping and spinning around the hospital room with surprising grace and precision. His ballet training shined through as he twirled and performed dramatic poses, much to the delight of Jezlyn and Instagram users.

One user, who goes by @liggylow, commented, "That's a confident hetero man right there and we love it."

Many others also picked up on the fact that Grayson may have had some previous dance experience. "That high kick tells me this ain't his first rodeo," one Instagram user commented. Another joked, "It's giving 'I thought you'd never ask'."

Since it was posted on October 18, social media has been buzzing with praise for Grayson's dedication and unexpected talent. "The reaction on social media has been so sweet," Jezlyn told Newsweek. "People were surprised at the talent he has and how dedicated he was to making me laugh! His silly performance brought millions of people joy, and we love that," she said.

For now, the Beardens are happy to report that "all is well" after their eventful day. According to Jezlyn's Instagram stories, the baby has not arrived yet, and as for Grayson, he's undoubtedly preparing for his next big performance—fatherhood.
