A woman has gone viral after making a song about how she packed up her life and moved across the US to live with her boyfriend, only for him to dump her two months later.

All of us have a bad break up story, featuring tales of exes who have dumped you unceremoniously over text or suddenly disappeared into thin air after you'd spent months planning your future together.

But have you ever moved half way across the country only to get broken up with just months later? Brutal.

This exact situation is what happened to singer and content creator Jillian Lavin, who has since gone viral after creating a song on TikTok to document her devastating experience.

Lavin, who goes by her stage name Spritely online, had been in a three-and-a-half-year relationship with her boyfriend who she lived with in Los Angeles. After a few years together, the unnamed man expressed desire to move back to his home state of Texas - with the pair eventually agreeing to move together.

The decision led to Lavin spending the next few weeks and around $7,000 (£5,000) packing up her life and leaving behind her entire career to relocate 1,245.3 miles from LA to Texas.

It was a major sacrifice for the singer, who drained all of her savings on the move, but one which she believed was 'so worth it for the love of your life that wants a future with you'.

However just two months after moving Lavin's life would come crashing down when the boyfriend handed her note which said they had 'nothing in common' and weren't 'compatible'.

After her ex handed her the matter-of-fact note, Lavin was left to move back in with her mum in Florida.

Since posting the video Lavin has been inundated with sympathy from followers, with many questioning why her boyfriend didn't think to express his doubts before she moved her entire life.

"He made you move and then handed you a note?!?! I thought my ex was bad for leaving me to move back in with his mommy. You win," one person wrote, while another added: "Can't you sue him for something."

Speaking to The Cut about the video and the demise of the relationship, Lavin explained how she and her ex had spoken extensively about what their life in Texas would look like prior to the move.

"I actually asked at certain points, 'Do you want to be with me?' And he’d be like, 'No, I don’t want to break up. I want to be with you'," she explained.

"There was lots of communication, lots of assurances from him that he did want me to come, and then I came."
