'Wordle' Today #1,256 Answer, Hints, Clues for Tuesday, November 26 Game

Wordle is a fun but sometimes challenging daily word game that has players around the world hooked.

It was first released in October 2021 by Josh Wardle, who had originally invented the game for his girlfriend to play. But once he decided to set it live, Wordle became an instant hit, going from a handful of players to hundreds of thousands in a matter of weeks.

Newsweek reached out to some experts for their thoughts on the best way to ensure daily Wordle success.

"Be strategic with your second guess," said linguistics expert and Babbel Live teacher Noël Wolf. "As hard as it might seem—especially if you have a few correct letters in your first word—using a completely separate set of letters, where possible, will help eliminate more possibilities in fewer guesses.

"For example, if your first Wordle guess is 'crane' and you discover that C and R are correct, instead of guessing a word like 'cross,' try a different word like 'plumb.' This will use new letters and explore different vowel placements, increasing your chances of narrowing down the possibilities."

She also suggested "familiarizing yourself with more words," to increase the probability of winning.

"Expanding your vocabulary for Wordle is particularly useful because the game often includes words that aren't used in everyday conversation," Wolf said. "Aside from reading widely to expose yourself to less common words, playing other fun word games like Scrabble, word searches and crossword puzzles can be a great way to widen your vocabulary."

Wolf also explained Wordle's enduring popularity.

"Wordle's shareability across various social media platforms fosters a sense of belonging and common ground that can transcend cultures and borders," she said. "Friends and family members who live far apart, or even in different countries, can use it to stay connected."
