New York Yankees fans are buzzing about a love triangle in the clubhouse.
After the MLB team acquired Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, sports fanatics were quick to point out that the outfielder’s wife, Chase Carter, previously dated his new teammate Giancarlo Stanton.
Carter once posted a video on her Instagram Story, obtained by Page Six, in which she said she first connected with Bellinger on social media in 2017 and they “remained pen pals” until they “finally met in person” in 2020.
“True love story: I followed him, he followed me back,” she quipped of their first interaction in a second since-expired clip.
Notably, Carter was in a relationship with Stanton when she admittedly exchanged DMs with Bellinger.
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and the designated hitter, who is going into his eighth season as a Yankee, dated from 2018 to 2019, and a source tells Page Six she moved on with her now-husband not long after they broke up.

Bellinger, 29, and Carter, 27, went public with their romance in 2020 and welcomed two daughters, Caiden, 3, and Cy, 1, before getting engaged in 2023. They quietly wed later that year.
After losing the 2024 World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Yankees are scheduled to begin spring training in February 2025 before kicking off their 123rd season in March.
“This is going to hurt,” our source opines after Bellinger became a Bronx Bomber. “Odd work situation ahead!”
However, a second insider says the “past is in the past” and insists, “Giancarlo and Cody will be fine. They’re two professionals.”
Stanton, 35, was most recently linked to hospitality worker Asiana Jayd “AJ” Hung-Barnes, though we hear he is now seeing Miami-based therapist Kristina Ruiz.
A rep for the Yankees did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
