One hazard about TV viewing that always gets made fun of is when you’re so enthralled in a show, you love the characters, and you can’t get enough, and then it gets canceled suddenly. (We’re talking to you, Disney+!)
It’s happened to all of us at one point; sometimes it happens more than once, and it’s always heartbreaking. While Netflix has become a bit of a joke about canceling shows in two seasons are less, they’re not the only streaming offenders that do this.
Despite Disney+ coming out with so many beloved shows and movies, quite a few have been in the dust early on.
Recently, Disney+ tried to make $5 billion in budget cuts after consistent losses at the box office, and because of that, many beloved shows were canceled after one or two seasons.
And unlike many other streaming platforms, Disney+ oftentimes doesn’t give fans an explanation as to why the show was canceled. In fact, I have to guess why one show is randomly canceled while another is still thriving to this day.
While Disney+ doesn’t have many shows that get canceled after two seasons or less, there are still quite a few more than you expect.
Below, check out every show Disney+ canceled and two seasons or less.
-
‘The Acolyte’
Starring Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Manny Jacinto, The Acolyte was a beloved show in the Star Wars universe that followed events prior to the Skywalker Saga, and was all about investigating a series of crimes.
It was canceled after one season due to low viewership, per The Direct.
-
‘Andor’
Another Star Wars show to hit the dust was Andor, which served as a prequel series to Star Wars’ Rogue One (which spoiler: was a prequel to the 1970 movies). So it wasn’t officially cancelled, per se, but due to the high production costs and production changes made, everyone had to wrap it up in two seasons, which felt abtrupt to fans. So we’re counting it.
-
‘Renegade Nell’
Renegade Nell follows the fantasy version of 18th-century England, Nell Jackson, who was framed for murder. Then, after meeting a magical sprite called Billy Blind, she realizes her destiny. Despite being critically acclaimed and beloved by fans, it was canceled after only one season with no explanation yet, per Deadline.
-
‘American Born Chinese’
American Born Chinese was a beloved show that followed a teenage boy who finds himself fighting Chinese mythological gods. With Oscar-winning actors like Key Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh in the cast, it was a huge shock when news broke that it would be canceled after only one season.

-
‘The Crossover’
The Crossover was an acclaimed show that followed a family: two sons wanting to go into pro-ball, their former pro-baller father adjusting to life, and their mother finding out her own dreams. Now, it wasn’t officially canceled, but it was just straight up removed from the streaming platform altogether, per TV Insider.
-
‘The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’
Starring Lauren Graham, Brady Noon, and Emilio Estevez, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers follows the Mighty Ducks forming a new team of underdogs with the Ducks’ original coach. It was canceled after two seasons, potentially due to low viewership, per TV Line.

It was canceled due to low viewership, though, and it was removed from the platform.
-
‘The Muppets Mayhem’
Starring Lily Singh, The Muppets Mayhem followed the Muppets band as they try to make their first album. Despite being loved by critics and viewers, it only lasted one season due to budget cuts.
-
‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D’
Doogie Kamealoha, M.D was a show that followed a teenage girl who was both a brilliant doctor and a lovestruck teenager. Despite good reviews, it was canceled after its second season, with the reasoning behind this decision still being unclear.
