Al Roker is speaking out about Today's new venture — and he's doing so with his trademark sense of humor.

The Today show weatherman, 70, discussed the morning show's new wellness app in an interview with Variety published on Tuesday, January 7.

"I come from an age when an 'app' was an appetizer," Roker quipped to the outlet. "Not something you downloaded on your phone."

Per Variety, "Roker will play a significant role in a new app from Today that helps users with tips about wellness — including exercise, diet and more."

The Start Today app seeks to broaden Today's brand and reach, taking the morning show from its iconic status on television to a part of fans' everyday routines.

"If you want fitness, nutrition, inspiration, we have it in one place — and trusted experts who are bringing it to you," NBC News executive vice president Libby Leist shared with Variety.

Hoda Kotb, Roker's longtime co-star and Today mainstay, announced in October that she is also working on a wellness app. (Kotb will retire from Today this month, after 25 years with NBC.)

In fact, the Today With Hoda and Jenna personality, 60, shared more about her own wellness venture on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday, January 6 — just one day before Roker spoke out about Today's own wellness app.

"I am starting a wellness app and company that will involve retreats and a podcast and all kinds of things that we can get together, do things that I love," Kotb told Clarkson. "It's not like going to Mexico with your girls, which is fun, but this is something that when you leave, you'll go like, 'Oh my gosh. I feel transformed. I feel different.'"
