Coronation Street star Alan Halsall’s brother has given his verdict on his I'm A Celebrity spat with Dean McCullough, saying: “He handled himself well.”

Alan was seen being berated by Dean after he failed to give him time to wake up in order to help Jane Moore with a chore. But Alan’s brother Stephen, who has flown into Brisbane to support him, said: “It was probably blown out of proportion a little bit the way Dean reacted.

“He could have just said I will just do it in a minute and nothing would have come of it. [Alan] handled himself well to be fair.” Asked about what he thought about Dean’s screaming in the trials, he added: “People act in different ways. Dean is a screamer and that’s just the way it is.”

He said that “apart from that spat with Dean” he was getting on well with all his campmates. Some have speculated whether his friendship with Tulisa could spark a jungle romance. And Stephen said: “You never know do you. I don’t know whether he is looking for a relationship or not? You just never know what’s around the corner but she is a nice enough girl.”

Tulisa's best friend Michelle McKenna has also arrived in Australia and issued her verdict on a potential romance. She said: “I would love her to meet someone…. I love Alan but I think they are little besties in there. They would actually make a dead cute couple. We will have to wait and see. And he is a northerner. You never know.”

Asked how he thought Alan was doing, Stephen said: “I just want to see him suffer some more… Speaking to the Mirror before he went into the Jungle, Alan claimed one of the things he will miss most in the jungle is work. He said he felt blessed to be on the soap for over 25 years and can't imagine life without Tyrone Dobbs.

"I'm super close to my family and my friends and there are lots of things I'm going to miss. I'm going to miss work. I love my job, I love going into work, I love the people,” he said. "It is a very difficult thing to put into words, kind of just how big a thing it is in my life. It has been a huge part of my life for just over 26 years now. And I love the show.

"It's not just the show, it's the people, the people that you see on screen, but the people behind the cameras, the crew, storyliners, writers, people that I've known for that whole time. I'm in a job that's different every day that I still love and I love waking up in the morning, thinking I'm going to work. So I feel very blessed for that."
