Alan Titchmarsh has expressed his disgust at 'rude' celebrities following an 'unbearable' encounter in a restaurant. He recalled being brought up to value good manners and recounted how some stars' treatment of service staff has vexed him.
In a conversation with the I newspaper, the beloved former Gardeners' World host mentioned how impoliteness towards waiters and waitresses by some celebs left a sour taste during dining experiences.
Titchmarsh mentioned, "For the most part, the guests on Pebble Mill were also very polite. But there was the odd exception. I've been in situations where famous people have been rude to waiters or waitresses and I find that unbearable."
Not one for tolerating discourtesy, he continued, "In those situations I will just get up and go."
Whilst not naming any specific ill-mannered famous faces from his time on Pebble Mill, he shared an anecdote about his sit-down with the adored actress Dame Joan Collins.

One famous couple Alan has consistently praised is King Charles and Queen Camilla, describing the Royals as "great company".
He recently told The Times: "There are days when I struggle to work out how that plumber’s son ended up where he is today. Lucky enough to be on good terms with King Charles and Queen Camilla —they are great company."
The respect is clearly mutual, as Alan is being made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to horticulture and to charity in King Charles's New Year Honours List.

As the host of BBC's Pebble Mill, starting in 1991, Titchmarsh's guests included stellar names such as Shirley Bassey and Morgan Freeman.
The TV star was the host of the show until its conclusion in 1996, after which he took over as the presenter of Gardeners' World, a show he is perhaps best known for. However, his major breakthrough in broadcasting came two decades earlier when he was hired as a gardening expert on BBC Radio 4's You and Yours, and The Today Programme, reports the Express.
Fast forward to today, the gardening expert currently hosts Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh where he regularly welcomes celebrity guests. The latest episode of the show will air this morning (Sunday, January 12) on ITV from 9.30am.
