Alleged Ex-Inmate Claims Diddy Has 'Groupies' Behind Bars

Following a filing from Diddy’s legal team arguing that the Bad Boy Records founder’s chance at a fair trial is being compromised, a recent interview with an alleged inmate has resurfaced.

The interview, since widely excerpted by Touré and others on social media, stems from a conversation between FOX 5 reporter and Street Soldiers host Lisa Evers. Per Evers, she spoke with a former detention center inmate who was previously held in the “same housing unit” as Diddy in New York. As previously reported, Diddy, 55, was first taken into custody in September. An indictment revealed charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Speaking with Evers, the unidentified man alleged to have been a former fellow inmate of Diddy’s said that the three-time Grammy winner’s “energy is super strong.” He also described Diddy as “a normal person” who’s been “super comfortable” despite being behind bars. The individual claimed that Diddy was being housed in a dorm-style space at the time they were both inmates.

“They was groupies,” the alleged former inmate at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center said when asked how others were treating Diddy, as heard in a clip released to Evers’ Instagram on Nov. 9. “They was being around him, jealous of another dude because he’s closer to another dude. If there was a dude that was making his bed for him or doing something special for him, they would hate on a dude like that.”

More recently, TMZ cited legal docs as revealing that Diddy’s legal team had accused authorities of raiding their client’s space. In fact, it was initially reported that lawyers feared key trial prep materials had been taken during the raid. It was later reported, however, that federal officials were pushing back by stating the search in question resulted in no such materials being removed from Diddy's quarters.

Diddy has pleaded not guilty in the case. A trial is currently slated to begin next May.

“He is an imperfect person but he is not a criminal,” Marc Agnifilo, an attorney for Diddy, said back in September. “To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
