Presenters Amanda Holden and Jason King, aka JK, were brought to tears during Heart Breakfast's show on Wednesday after touching messages were played out for their young guest Harry. The nine-year-old boy's life drastically altered last year when doctors discovered a tumour in his brain that had spread down his spine, leading to treatment including chemotherapy.
After a courageous fight with cancer for over a year, Heart's team delighted Harry and his brother Reece with gifts from the Lego store during Tuesday's show. Surprising him further in the studio today, the hosts played out heartfelt messages from his friends and teachers, which sparked plenty of tears all round.
One friend expressed their sadness and disbelief over Harry's diagnosis, saying: "I was just shocked to hear the news, and just... why does it have to happen to him? Brain tumours don't happen that often, but they have to happen to him. Harry, I can't wait to play with you soon."
One of his teachers went on to label Harry as an "absolute star" and another wished him “the best Christmas ever”. As the segment unfolded, Harry, his mum, JK and Amanda, were left in tears and the latter pair struggled to get their words out.
Amanda shared through her tears: "Oh wow, we are all crying here, every single person in the studio," adding, "What an incredible bunch of friends and teachers you have, what a lucky boy."
JK remarked: "It is so nice to see your response to that when all your friends were saying 'Hi' and you smiled. And [I'm] also a bit emotional because you love them so much and they love you, they really do."
Amanda then went on reveal another treat for young Harry, a VIP Harry Potter tour arranged by his friends and teachers. Moreover, the courageous boy was all smiles when he received a call from Santa, who invited him and his sibling to Lapland.
Followers have been deeply touched by the emotional clip posted on the radio station's Instagram, with one listener sharing: "I was listening this morning and cried as well. Wonderful family. Speedy recovery."
Another supportive social media typed: "Have the best Christmas wee man! You're a soldier," while a third shared: "You lot had us all crying in the car on the school run this morning."
