Andy Cohen used his Radio Andy platform to apologize to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag for calling her “trash” 14 years ago.
Spencer still holds a grudge against the Bravo TV exec. The Hills alum recently responded to a social media user saying he’d never go on Watch What Happens Live.
The beef:
Andy asked himself, “What happened? What did I do?” to get Spencer so upset. “Then, I remembered that I said something on WWHL years ago.” John Hill – his friend/co-host – reminded Andy would rather claw his eyes out than have Heidi on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Andy remembered he “did apologize” for this years ago on Andy Cohen Live. The father of two continued that what he said about Heidi was “mean.” It was “14 years ago.”
“I really don’t like referring to Heidi as ‘trash.'” He continued, “I don’t like that at all and I’m sorry about that. I apologize again.”
“14 years is such a long time ago. There were things that were said on TV 14 years ago that we wouldn’t do now. It was just a different universe.” Since then, Andy continued, “We’ve learned some lessons.”
Andy and Speidi’s history:
In 2023, Heidi went on the record saying Andy’s pre-conceived notions of held back her potential as a Housewife.
Heidi reminded her audience that Andy “made a statement a while ago that he would never want me” as a Real Housewife. Also, Andy said Heidi “wasn’t for their franchise.”
“But, I think that he’s so wrong,” Montag declared. “I would think that he would appreciate the reality star that I am. I completely make sense to be on one of these shows.”
Andy defended his stance:
Later that year, Andy explained “I just gotta be clear, I don’t know them.”
“I didn’t watch ‘Laguna Beach’ so I don’t even have much institutional knowledge of them.”
Andy elaborated, and brought another iconic MTV reality personality into the conversation. “I have said that I thought it would be weird if they were on The Housewives [for] the same reason that I was saying that it would be weird if Snooki came on The Housewives.”
“They’re so identified, not only with another show but with another network.”
