Actor Barry Keoghan has been spotted on the set of the upcoming Peaky Blinders film for the first time following the news of his involvement with the project.

It was announced in August that the actor, 32, had joined the cast of the film, which will act as a continuation of the BBC show. It's yet to be revealed who he will be playing though.

Photos taken this week show Barry in period costume on the set of the film in Yorkshire. He's seen wearing a grey suit, with a navy shirt underneath, and an overcoat. The outfit also included a coordinated flatcap and a brown neckerchief. The look was completed with a pair of dark shoes on the set on Wednesday.

It's been revealed that the actor was seen closely following co-star Sophie Rundle, 36 - who is reprising her role as Ada Shelby - into a building in Bradford in one scene. Sophie wore a matching plum outfit and a matching hat, which were accessorised with a pair of gloves and a bag. She was also seen holding an umbrella whilst on location in the city. It's reported that she was joined by Kasper Hilton-Hille in the scene.

Tim Roth, 63, who has also joined the cast of the franchise, was spotted on the set this week too. His character, seen in a grey overcoat and a hat, is said to have arrived at the building carrying a gun before emerging with the bag that Ada had been carrying on the way into the property.

Official plot details of the film are yet to be revealed, but it's been confirmed that it will be set during World War II. The TV show, which ran for six series from 2013 to 2022, followed the Shelby family in the aftermath of World War I.

Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Tommy Shelby and featured in a first-look released by Netflix, which has joined forces with the BBC for the film, recently. He's said about his return: "It seems like [Tommy] wasn't finished with me."

Steven Knight, who created Peaky Blinders, has teased: "I'm thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II. The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders."
