BBC Breakfast was interrupted as presenters shared "breaking news" with their audience.
From their iconic red sofa, co-hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent roused the nation with the day's most pressing stories from around the world.
Jon told viewers: "Some breaking news this morning because we're hearing that a DHL cargo plane has crashed near Vilnius airport in Lithuania. Police say the plane came down as it was coming in to land. One person has been killed and three others have been injured."
As live images of the scene appeared on screen, he added: "These pictures we've been getting in show a large police presence and ambulance persons nearby"
The presenter continued: "Several streets have been cordoned off and firefighters are spraying water onto a large building that is engulfed in smoke. We'll bring you more details when you get them", the Express reports.
Jon's authoritative delivery marks a significant change from the on-air blunder that he suffered while interviewing care home residents about their beer-brewing initiative last week.
He said: "A group of care home residents in Bristol are taking a glass half full approach to life and it's all down to beer, sounds good."
But Jon appeared to go off-script, or Nina misread the teleprompter, causing the presenters to speak over each other as she introduced the following segment.
This created a rare moment of mismatched dialogue, with Nina interjecting: "Yes the Hoppiness project got them growing hops in the garden of their care homes to turn into their own pale ale."
Nina brushed off the error with a laugh, continuing to deliver the news without hesitation.

The feature showed a care home residents' trip to a brewery to discover the art of craft beer. The pensioners delighted in the experience, although one cheeky resident quipped that the alcoholic offering "wasn't as good as northern beer."
The home's activities coordinator was also full of praise for the initiative, explaining how beneficial it had been for the residents. Their brew, named Backyard Bounty, is set to hit pub tables nationwide soon.
Both Jon and Nina appeared sold by the ingenious concept, with Jon remarking: "What a good idea," and Nina in agreement: "Absolutely, everyone's a winner."
