Jason Chambers Melanoma Below Deck

Jason Chambers, captain on Bravo’s Below Deck Down Under, shares his recent melanoma diagnosis.

The Below Deck star took to his Instagram account on Monday, December 16, to share the news.

“For someone that spent their life in the sun, as a child playing sports to working on the ocean, I thought I was resistant to the damaging effects of the sun,” Jason captioned his video to his 340,000 followers.

“I love the sun and its health benefits are evident, but be wise and like everything in life, it’s all about balance, choose your battles.”

Jason’s Diagnosis

In the video, we learned that Jason underwent a biopsy of his abdomen while in Bali. Though, currently, Jason is in Australia.

“The Australian doctors, which are fantastic in Australia, they weren’t happy with what the indications told them to go to stage two, which would be to cut out a bigger section and test the glands.”

Results for his biopsy should become available after the holidays. However, the famed captain is wasting no time urging his followers to protect themselves against the sun’s harmful rays.

“With a diagnosed melanoma biopsy, I now have an anxious wait and what I thought was a skin spot turned in just 6 months, early detection is the key.”

“So find a chemical free sunscreen product, get some shade with a hat and enjoy the sun with protection.”

Captain Sandy, from the Below Deck family, also entered Jason’s comment section. “Praying for good results,” she commented.

We are sending Captain Jason Chambers all the good vibes as he awaits his results. It seems like there’s been an uptick in recent cancer diagnosis, especially in the Bravo world.

We also hold space to those of you battling your own health concerns and diagnosis.
