The former White House correspondent, 53, recently announced his departure from the cable news company after 17 years. In his last broadcast, Acosta ripped into Trump, whom he often clashed with while reporting during his first term.
Before Acosta officially left, CNN began changing their weekday schedule, leaving his future unknown and igniting rumors he was about to be let go. Upon hearing this, The Apprentice star, 78, took to Truth Social to give his candid thoughts about the reporter.
"Wow, really good news! Jim Acosta, one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history, a major sleazebag, has been relegated by CNN Fake News to the Midnight hour, 'Death Valley,' because of extraordinarily BAD RATINGS (and no talent!). Word is that he wants to QUIT and that would be even better. Jim is a major loser who will fail no matter where he ends up. Good luck Jim!" Trump wrote.
O'Reilly — who is a staunch supporter of the businessman — condemned Trump's reaction. "A lot of conservatives are happy," The O'Reilly Factor star pointed out.
"They're dancing on his grave and President Trump did that. The president did that with Neil Cavuto [journalist] too because Cavuto had no use for Donald Trump. And then Cavuto is booted out of Fox and Acosta is booted out of CNN," O'Reilly claimed.
"What does that say to you?" he questioned. "It says that Donald Trump has some juice now in the corporations that run the media. But anyway, I don't like dancing on the graves. I know it's human nature, but I don't think it's a Christian thing to do. And maybe I amend that. I don't think it's in accord with Judeo-Christian philosophy."
Despite defending Acosta, the right-wing commentator thought his coverage of Trump was constantly "unfair."
"He's not a reporter, he's a commentator, Acosta," O'Reilly alleged. "If you hate somebody, then you shouldn't even mention them, right? Because you can't comment in a fair way on someone you hate. Does that make sense to everybody? That's the big problem here. If you hate them — and there are a few people that I despise, but I tell you upfront that I do."
In another stunning moment of bipartisanship, O'Reilly made it clear he was not feeling positive about the left-leaning personality leaving the media world as Trump enters his second term.
"You're probably not going to see him a lot and that doesn't make me happy," he admitted. "I don't want the guy's life to be destroyed or harmed in any way, even though I believe that he presented himself in an unfair way."
