Sam Asghari has reflected on his relationship with pop royalty Britney Spears months on from their divorce.
Britney, 43, and Sam, 30, began dating back in 2016 after meeting on the set of Britney's music video for her track Slumber Party. Sam proposed in September 2021 after five years together, and they went on to tie the knot on June 4, 2022, in a glitzy ceremony in Los Angeles.
Sam rarely speaks about his time with Britney or their split, but opened up while on the Sibling Revelry podcast with Oliver and Kate Hudson.
“Divorce, separation, break-ups suck for anybody. Of course it’s going to suck but I had the mindset of ‘I will never be sad that it’s over, I’m always going to be grateful and happy that it ever even happened,’” he shared.
Sam then added that he had no regrets about how things ended, saying: “If you do everything with honour, respect and you think twice before you do anything, nothing could ever go wrong and nothing could ever be a bad thing.

The Traitors US star did say later in his interview that not everything was easy, particularly dealing with the conservatorship Britney was in from 2008 to 2021, controlled by her dad Jamie Spears.
“Everything was going really well until one day I started learning about what the conservatorship is. I thought, ‘I’m in America, what do you mean someone doesn’t have basic human rights and that someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents,’” he said.
“It’s such a ridiculous thing in this country to have to deal with. And that was by far the weirdest thing to deal with.” He divulged: “It was a very difficult time. It blurred into our relationship for almost seven years, but it was so much that we’ve gone through as a couple and we’ve learned so much and it was a beautiful experience.”
Britney and Sam reached a divorce settlement in May 2024 and kept the terms of their prenuptial agreement, according to TMZ. "The divorce was amicable and the prenup was not challenged," a source told People. "Britney is continuing to flex her freedom and is moving on. The report that she is in financial distress is false and she is not on any lease for him."
Recently, Sam shared photos with his rumoured new girlfriend, real estate agent Brooke Irvine. Sam and Brooke were first romantically linked in November, and have spotted out and about together in the Los Angeles.
In contrast, Britney seemed to suggest that she was in no rush to find a new partner. In July last year - soon after the end of her marriage - she shared an Instagram caption reading: "Single as f--k !!! I will never be with another man as long as I live,” but quickly deleted the post.
