Carol Vorderman took to Twitter (X) today to question the decision to involve the BBC's Robbie Gibb in the coverage of the budget.
The former Countdown star expressed her uncertainty due to his well-known links to the Conservative Party - and accused the corporation of "bias". She quizzed: "How bias is the coverage on BBC #Budget2024 #DailyPolitics right now?" (sic)
Carol then challenged: "If only they'd kept the Tories to the same scrutiny eh? Scripting by BBC Board Director (former Tory No 10 head of Comms) Robbie Gibb??"
She tagged Bristol Labour MP Darren Paul Jones as she added: "Doing well with a smile."
Some of the LBC radio star's followers - which total almost a million - shared her concerns, while threatening to switch the channel to broadcasters like Sky News instead. "Labour need to re establish BBC impartiality NOW … clear out the Tory appointees NOW!" raged one fan.
Another informed Carol they'd be making an Ofcom complaint over the way the coverage was presented. "[100 per cent] agree - they had a banner saying taxes to rise by 40billion without any of the positive news," they wrote.

"I’ve turned over to Sky but thats not much better, I’m beginning to get worried and I will be sending a complaint."
A third blasted: "This is just one of many reasons why I barely engage with the BBC now."
As gripes poured in about alleged bias, a fourth chimed in: "Absolutely right - I watched the budget, thought it was pretty decent then listened to the so called analysis and switched off."
"There is a serious need to scrap the licence fee for this totally biased corporation," someone else declared, as another agreed: "Incredibly bias… can we scrap the tv license too?"

However, not everyone agreed, with one viewer insisting: "Unfair Carol, they’re really taking Conservatives and Laura Trott to task as well."
Another added: "They can read the room... starmers clowns army have no clue."
A third chimed in: "Almost as bias as everything C4 produces."
Today's unwelcome budget speech saw Rachel Reeves announce, among other fundraising incentives, that employers will be obligated to raise their National Insurance contributions by 1.2 per cent to 15 per cent from April 2025.
She declared that the increase would raise £25 billion per year for the government.
Reeves also plans a freeze on fuel duty in 2025, an unpopular increase in Capital Gains Tax and an introduction of VAT payments onto private school fees.
Meanwhile, further brutal tax hikes are set to continue into 2027, when defined contribution pension pots will be made subject to inheritance tax liability after the pension holder's death.
