Chloe Madeley has addressed claims she was groped by a rugby star

Chloe Madeley has broken her silence following claims she was once groped by a teammate of her estranged husband James Haskell - while he was meters away.

The 37-year-old fitness expert married to England rugby star James, 39, in 2018 before their shock split in October last year. While the pair are moving on with their lives, and continuing to co-parent their two-year-old daughter, Bodhi, their past was recently brought back into focus as James released a memoir titled The Good, The Bad & The Rugby.

Over the course of his writings, the flanker shocked readers by recounting stories of other players propositioning his then-wife. He claimed: “I recently had a call from a supposedly squeaky-clean rugby great who was getting up to all sorts of mischief in a notoriously hedonistic European capital. But I wasn’t at all surprised, because the same guy had propositioned Chloe a few years earlier while I was DJ’ing a few feet away, and his teammate, another supposedly squeaky-clean rugby great, was groping her a**e.”

Now Chloe has opened up about the incident - but has insisted that the incident was "a non-event". The mum-of-one went on to slam men who objectify and molest women.

Speaking to Fabulous magazine, Chloe said: “I don’t want to belittle anyone else’s awful experiences at the hands of disgusting men and I would never want to be insensitive. But this incident was such a non-event for me. Everybody had been drinking for multiple hours. It happened so quickly and I was like, ‘OK, some guy just grabbed my a**e’."

She continued: "I don’t think it’s OK for men to touch women or say inappropriate things thinking it’s ‘banter’. But it was one of those situations where I didn’t feel threatened and no trauma had been inflicted." The rugby players in question have not been identified. And while it has been more than a year since James and Chloe split, they have insisted they are still on great terms with each other. Earlier this month, James revealed that he will be spending the festive season with his ex.

He told OK!: “We’re going to be together on Christmas morning and we’ll do all the stuff we do as usual, and then I’ll go off to my house and Chloe will go to her parents. We’re trying to make it as easy as possible. And because I’ve just moved into my house, I’m with my parents and I’m treating my parents to Christmas dinner made by someone else. I’m a nightmare in the kitchen and I don’t have all the utensils so I’m making it easier on everyone by getting someone else to make it.”

And in another recent interview, James explained he hoped Chloe would be offered more seasons of her reality show, At Home With The Madeleys, which ITV aired just before their marriage collapsed. He told Spin Genie: "I had a lot of fun doing it and Chloe's super intelligent, she’s a natural. She's very, very good and I just thought it was fun. I played up to a certain character and I thought Chloe was brilliant. I'd hope she was going to get another series just for her because she deserves it. I had fun doing it and it really showcased Chloe for who she is. She's an incredibly hard working woman, very intelligent, has a best-selling book and is a PT. She had to juggle a lot that summer when we filmed because I was away DJing a lot and I just wanted to do it for her.”
