Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has delivered a very personal hello to fans down under before the Australian leg of the UK band’s Music Of The Spheres world tour begins this week.
On Tuesday night, a video was posted to Instagram showing Chris Martin playing on the piano and humming a very familiar tune during the soundcheck at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium ahead of the first show on Wednesday.

It does not take an Australian ear long to realise what he is playing — the soundtrack to the beloved sitcom Neighbours.
“Hello Melbourne,” the video on the Coldplay Instagram post was captioned.
After he finishes the song, the video shows Martin walking to the centre of the stadium stage and taking a bow.
Australian pop star and former Neighbours actress Natalie Imbruglia responded in the comments.
“’That’s when good Neighbours … become good friends’ … Kiss the ground for me. I’m missing home.
“Have the best time down under … spread your light!!” she added.
“Nothing this talented man can’t do!” a fan gushed.
“Never thought I’d see Coldplay do this 😂,” added another.
The long-running Neighbours, which was first broadcast in 1985, has featured many future stars over the years, including Kylie Minogue, Margot Robbie, Guy Pearce, Jason Donovan Russell Crowe and even Chris Hemsworth, who also starred in Seven’s Home and Away.
Coldplay’s first show at Marvel Stadium is Wednesday, October 30 before they return on Thursday October 31.
The band will then travel to Sydney for two sold-out shows at Accor Stadium, on November 6 and 7.
Coldplay’s Melbourne and Sydney dates come almost a year after they visited Australia and controversially only performed in Perth.
The band has not performed in Sydney or Melbourne since November 2016.
On that tour, the band performed five concerts in three states, NSW, Queensland and Victoria — with Western Australia missing out.
Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres world tour has sold more than six million tickets since it launched early in 2022.
