Window condensation occurs when the inside temperature is warmer than the outside temperature.

The outside temperature often drops at night and this is when it occurs on windows.

It can be tackled with regular ventilation, and whilst this is recommended, it can make the house chilly.

Luckily, Mrs Hinch fans have taken to social media to share their top tips and tricks.

Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, Amber Llyod said: “Any tips on getting rid of window condensation?”

The post attracted lots of various comments, with many people recommending salt.

Sue Hughes said: “Table salt works a treat, it’s fascinating when it gradually dries up, but don’t use it if you have pets or children, they’ll lick it up.”

Gail Rea noted: “I use salt on my windowsill in a small dish but you do need to leave windows open too.”

Heather Bennett wrote: “Just leave a dish of salt on your window sill and that will completely stop it.

“I do this all the time and haven’t seen any condensation since.”

Heather recommended placing about half an inch or a bit less in a dish and leaving it to work.

Table salt can be purchased for as little as 40p a bottle, proving this hack is very affordable.

Baking soda is also said to work in a very similar way. Simply place a dish of baking soda out and let it get to work overnight.
