Craig Conover broke his silence on his breakup from Paige DeSorbo.
In a video posted to his Instagram story on January 7, the “Southern Charm” star said he will have to start listening to his own advice about relationships. He also admitted that he was “very shocked” by the end of his relationship with the “Summer House” star.
Conover dated DeSorbo for more than three years. The Bravo couple lived together between Charleston, South Carolina, and New York City, and talked seriously about marriage.
Craig Conover Called the Breakup ‘Very Unexpected’
In his video update, Conover addressed fans directly. “Hey everyone what’s up?” he said with a nervous laugh. “I figured it’s finally time to check in with everyone. Sorry for the delay.”
He then discussed the breakup. “This has all been very, very unexpected to say the least,” he said. “But I guess life has to … I gotta start living again, whatever that looks like, whatever my new normal looks like, I have to start. Gratitude will get you through this, with time comes clarity.”
“Right before the holidays, I was very shocked, and it’s OK,” he admitted. “It takes two people to be in a relationship, and I can’t control other people, you can only control how you react to it.”
Conover added that he is “still processing” his new normal, and the loss of losing DeSorbo, whom he considered his best friend. “It’s life,” he added. “I just have to take my own advice when I speak at these home shows, that no one is ever not better after a breakup.” He also said he has to have faith in God that “everything happens for a reason.”
Conover also thanked fans for all of their support and urged everyone to “be kind.”
Paige DeSorbo Announced the Breakup in Late December
On December 30, DeSorbo addressed fans on her “Giggly Squad” podcast and revealed that the two had ended their relationship. “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together,” she said. “I love him, I think he loves me. I think we will remain friends. No one did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing.”
She added, “I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want, and I think that’s extremely powerful to be able to voice how you’re feeling in real-time and what you want for your future,” DeSorbo told her podcast co-host Hannah Berner.
“I will remain the biggest fan for him and want the best for him, and he truly will get the best because he is the best,” she added. “But, with that said, I think it is the right decision for both of us.”
Two weeks earlier, Conover appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” and said he wasn’t worried about a timeline for engagement and was happy to be dating a successful career woman. “I think a lot of those [past] timelines were definitely enforced by me and I didn’t know any better,” he told host Andy Cohen. “This is what I’ll admit now. I have no idea what’s going on at any point in time. We live in the week instead of obsessing about the future.”
